Same thing was said about SKY too but he was a massive failure in wt20 so   let him play in wc

SKY is a hack. He had a good 2022 WC, though

Even SKY was imperious when he first came onto the scene but he soon fizzled out in the world cups.

As people slowly figure out your game, how you adapt to it and find success will put him among the greats.

Let's see how he performs in the coming world cup. He is pretty young and still has a long way to go.

SKY is not a hack. He has 360 degree game which is very rare to find in a batsmen. As teams figured him out he lost his mojo and couldnt come out of the pressures of the world cup.

I know calling SKY a hack is an exaggeration

Meanwhile PP has a thread comparing Abhishek with Rizwan as openers.

I think it is a sarcastic thread to go after Rizwan lol There is a section there despies Babar and Rizwan and there is  a section that love them. It is comical how anyone can even think of these two as T20 batsmen.

Riz&Bar are Tatt!20 batsmen, class apart.

SKY did well for a decent amount of time.

Its just that he debuted late and now age is bound to impact him sooner than the others.

SKY was a statistical anamoly. He had insane amoutn of consistency with that approach. 4 centuries as a middle order. I am not sure many have scored that many centuries as a MO batsman in T20. Then comes the rut. As far as Abhishek goes he is not  a 360 degree player. But his intent is amazing. Without even having a look at bowler charging down the wicket needs balls.

No. Our best T20 batsman till date is Kohli.

By older standards, yes. When T20s were played as the shortened version of ODIs.

Score heavily in top 6 by playing , rotate strike between 7-15 and then go bang bang between 16-20.

SR of 130-140 were considered ideal.

Now someone like Tilak who has an SR of 144 is considered as SLOW for modern standards. Surya raised the bar and Abhishek has taken it to a different level.

Also, Abhishek is very quick to read the length and able to adjust his shot..

Thats where Yuvraj's coaching has helped him, improved batswing and near perfect timing.

When was SKY ever so consistent? Abhishek scores a 50+ in almost every 3.5 matches(including 2 100s) . And he has played nearly 40 matches.

You can only compare a player with his peers. During most of Kohli's career, there was a certain way T20s were played and he excelled there, and proved his worth in WT20s, KOs, high pressure games.

20 years from now 300 may become par score in T20s and then people will wonder if Abhishek, Head, Salt, Marsh were too slow.

Babar has ODI SR of 88, more than Sachin/Ponting/Lara. That is because the game has changed today. Babar isn't even the best ODI batsman of his weakass team, while Sachin was the gold standard in the format for 2 decades.

Forget SR and everything, just the way Kohli turned up time and again in WT20s in his prime years is something that has no equal. ABDV, Buttler, Warner all great T20 batsmen but none of of them turned up on the big occasions as consistently as Kohli.

If Tilak with his 144 SR is able to win us KOs, big tourneys, yes he will be considered our best player. Just like how Samuels is a T20 legend despite 116 SR. Gayle may be the universe boss, Russell may be a hotshot, Pollard a mythical beast, all these guys may have been big names in IPL/CPL/BBL, but it was Samuels who won them their 2 WT20s, including what must rank as the GOAT knock which came in 2012 final. Against the hosts SL, he alone took them to a fighting score when all around him fell to single digit scores. Gayle scored 3(16) in that final, Samuels 78(56) !!!!! SL 100 all out on the same pitch,

Kohli was even better but due to lack of support from his team mates (and bad luck), couldn't win any trophy in 2012/14/16.

Doubt Abhishek will come clutch in big games. Already failed in IPL final and Asia Cup Final.

Hope Abhi learnt something from his SRH opening partner. Head has stepped up in KOs, big games so many times. High risk game but he brings his A level on the big stage.

Too small sample size. Plus he's only 25.

Considering the trajectory of Indian players, this is not even his final form.
