KV244 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) According to me he is the best T20 Batsman India has produced. Edited January 23 by KV244 Manucrick and New guy 2
deathmonger Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) Still Kohli (2 MoT and 1 final MoM) but will prolly be Abhishek by end of career. Edited January 23 by deathmonger Austin 3:!6 1
Gollum Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Nobody comes close to Kohli. Let Abhishek dominate a WC like how VK did in 14/16. Or GOAT knocks to match 2016 Mohali and 22 MCG. New guy and Austin 3:!6 1 1

tapandrun Posted January 23 Posted January 23 It how you look at it, some will suggest kolhi or rohit. But they were accumulator and most of the resources were directed towards them -- they were asked/allowed to play at their own pace they can face 50 balls and whatever they can.. 1st true t20 batter to come to Ind side was/is Sky and from there you can compare others. Its about what is the baseline for a t20 batter is ?? Comparing to other team who were your their best t20 player according to you ??? Vk1 and Sgattick10 2

He was one of main reasons for all those slow starts along with KL Rahul.

But what he did in 2012, even that will be a dream tournament for many of these youngsters. Then the 2022 MCG knock which came at a time when he was struggling for runs, probably the worst phase of his career. Ok knock in 24 final, got MOTM (even though I don't rate that knock even close to his top 5 in T20 WCs). The body of work is insane. MOTM in SF, F...ATG knocks in must win games like Mohali 2016, 2014 SF....GOAT knock in 22, repeated maulings of Pak who to be fair were a top T20I team in most of the editions where Kohli took part. Forget Indians. I won't put even Malinga, Gayle, ABDV, Warner anywhere close to Kohli in T20s. He is to T20s what Bradman is to tests, so far ahead of his peers. Game will change in the future, we may see freaks like Abhi/Head striking at 200....but unlikely to see anyone own his peers the way Kohli did for so long. Vk1 and Downtown 1 1
velu Posted January 23 Posted January 23 probably thala dhoni is the best t20 batter we have ever produced but for the opposition sage, Norman, Vk1 and 2 others 5
vvvslaxman Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Actually Abhishek is on his way to becoming greatest T20 opener ever. At this point Fastest to reach 5000 runs in terms of balls. 4 out of top 5 are lower order like Russell, Maxwell.. etc. He is the only opener. Pretty soon he will become an ATG T20 opener. SKY was expected to eclipse everyone. But his big game failures went against him. But

Sooda Posted January 24 Posted January 24 He needs one clutch major international tournament: hopefully he leads us to world cup glory Insha Allah As an aside I was watching the India T20i dream team draft that Akash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar did on ESPN Cricinfo Utterly flabbergasted that neither chose Abhishek , or Tilak. Bangar chose KL and Chopra got Sehwag in lol Pretty sure There was a point where Rohit was still up for grabs but Bangar picked Gill and KL

Bit like Sehwag did in Tests. He is not always going to come off. I am astonished by this consistency. I expected only 50% of what he has done so far given his high risk game. Look at Sanju who tries to do the same but fails badly with consistency. Guys like win matches even before taking the field. Teams have to break their heads to come up with plans against such guys.
Bigg Brother Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Kohli is untouchable in t20s. Abhishek is the most explosive but Kohli is still the best.
JaFanatic Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Kohli has more consistency with more crucial knocks at a healthy sr he definitely is the best India has ever produced. Abhishek is halfway through although not as much consistency or crucial knocks yet his scoring rate is simply audacious and never seen before. Easily the most dangerous batsman we've produced in this format.
deepdynamo Posted January 24 Posted January 24 If Abhi can win us a T20 WC then why not. Kohli is a legend in his era but T20 is evolved now. Gill tried to follow Kohli but failed.
goose Posted January 24 Posted January 24 i want to see abhishek in 50 overs. every other country would have made this happen by now. it's not like we're dominating. as for the comparison with kohli. the game has changed tons since his peak. greatness is always a real time perception that a player is doing something no others are doing, again and again and again. that 'thing' or metric changes from era to era. kohli's blend of consistency, personal average, and chasing down totals by himself was unmatched in T20s. that skillset is whollly inadequate today when strike rates have exploded.
