Washington Sundar and Saim Ayub are two promising left-handed batsmen, both known for their aggressive stroke play and ability to take on bowlers. Both are handy off spinners as well!

Who will prevail in the end!?

Lol which world Sundar is known for aggressive stroke making.

Can't comment on Saim Ayub, but Sundar has had a considerable sample size of matches in Whiteball cricket.  His performance in all 3 depts has been trash. In short, he is a stroke less wonder. (The left handed version of H Vihari).  On top of that,  he drops 2 regulation catches per match on an avg.  He is highly unathletic.  Kohli and Fraudeja (both at the age of 38) look more fit & athletic than Sundar.  He should not be anywhere near our Whiteball team.

This is an odd comparison, saying Sundar is an aggressive batter ?? based on what just 1 innings  or 4 sixes, those 4 balls exactly what only the balls Sundar can hit 6s off.

To start with it was a sub 135 kmph bowler bowling short pitch ball to Sundar at a comfortable height to him, While hitting sundar's weight is on back-foot and hence he can not generate power anywhere else but on hook/pull shot. Those 4 balls were in his zone/only zone.

As a bowler he is an ordinary off-spinner who does not have a ball that leaves the rh batter.

Off-spin itself is not a desired skill in white-ball only top team to play a specialist off-spinner is Ind for rest of the team its their batters who are bowling off-spin if and when needed , some teams uses their wk to bowl off offspin.

Ayub is not an out and out modern t20 batter but he is a good Odi batter, T20 is a bit different format and if he applies himself and be exactly the player he is in T20s it can work for, he is trying to be ultra-aggressive for which he does not have game or power.

He is a part time off-spinner who can take the ball away from RH batter which is a big plus.

Sundar in white-ball or overall is bits and pieces player where is ayub is a batter who can bowl off-spin and has a ball that leaves rh batter.

How many at #4?
He is being played out of position! He is not a lower order hitter!

His total career IPl 6s are below 20, do not think even TN plays him at #4 in t20s. Harbhajan singh has better carrer IPL sr than Sundar.

Even IPL teams does not pick him in their playing 11.

Random comparison? Sundar is not an opener. Ayub is not a specialist off spinner.

yet their bowling sr,avg, eco in t20i are v.similar and comparable

Ya.. In T20 Dube has done better than Bumrah in the last 1 year. It depends on the surfaces you play on and kind of teams you bowl against. Sometimes numbers can be deceiving. By tthe way Sundar even got into INdian side tpurely through his bowling by bowling in power play. Not batsmen.

Right now Sundar is only in the team (white-ball)because no one in the team is ready to roll their arm and bowl some off-spin , it could be player themselves or tm who does nt want to develop an off-spinning option.

Specialist Off-spin is obsolete in Odis/t20s unless they have ball that goes the other way, its been taken over by mystery spin. No top team plays a specialist off-spinner , even in league no team picks off-spinner.

Chris Green (Aus ) off-spinner plays all the leagues but Aus does not pick him, they would rather have head/David/maxwell roll their arm then having a specialist off-spinner.

Sundar in no better bowler than Ashwin, if ashwin can not play t20is how could he ??? Plus Sundar fielding is not good. A player who can not field can not bat at #5/6/7 and bows only off-spin , can that player be selected.. regardless the name be it Ashwin, Sundar , or anyone

Gambhir has this weird obsession with same team for all formats, same captain for all formats. Sundar was playing only when others took rest before. He was essentially reserve player before with jadeja in the side. Having said that INdia has to completely move away from all our current spinners and go with Parag and Abhishek as your bowlers. Lot of youngsters are becoming better bower hitters these days.

Give him a long run at #4 and he will deliver:

It’s just that we have much better options at #4!

Sundar bowling is only somewhat t20 standard. His t20 batting and fielding is absolute pathetic he shouldn’t be anywhere close to shorter format. I would say his injury is blessing in disguise otherwise he would have given false sense of lower order slogging/batting.

If India wants to become a fool proof dangerous unit they ahve to be good in atleast 2 departments India must take some more than a part timer category bowlers. Dube, Paragh, Abhishek falls under that category. They should cover the 5th bowling options. If Paragh can't bat down i am thinking of Vaibhav at the top. Compared to Abhishek, Jaiswal, other guys Suryavanshi is a fantastic fielder. Takes absolutely screamers. He can bowl too.

Vaibhav/Paragh

Abhishek

Kishan

Tilak

SKY

Pandya

RInku

Dube

Arshdeep

Varun C

Bumrah

Vaibhav/Paragh, ABhishek, Tilak,  Dube - 5 bowlers can bowl. You can get 4 overs from these guys easily. SOme tiems more. This is a deadly dangerous six hitting unit.

Not sure if Kishan is intnl quality, do not fall for 1-2 innings. Nz didnt bowl well to him in last 2 games may be dew or something.

There were hardly any ball that were leaving him on off-side or decking away from him.

Parag can play down the order, not sure he has opened any where. He has played most of his cricket in mo/lower mo. Think they should try him as specilist bowler and see if he can carry on with it. If he can then you can easily slot him anywhere in mo/lower mo.

Try a series with only him as specialist spinner.

Kolhi in prime was the ultimate all format batters there can be, and he too was not a vv.good t20 batter in-terms of sr. He was high but slow scoring batter.

And if you remove accumulator/anchors the name that comes to mind is david warner not sure why is he not talked as an example of all format player

Do not think there can be anything better than him. Unless you are sold on bazz-ball or if you have Travis Head.

Its hard to play t20 the way its being played these days, 140 sr once considered v,high is not even a norm these days for top4-5 sides.

T20 is full of risk and hitting 6s, test still remains close to what it was for number of years. A good 40 can win you t20 match but it wont win a test.

A player like tim david wont not survive 20-25 balls in test but if he plays 20-25 balls in t20s he will take his team towards a win.

Bat swing is different for batters , even for bowler length and plans are different in t20s and tests.
