vvvslaxman Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 This guy was going to rule the world last year . Poor guy was part of the squad in 2024. Not in 2026.

Australia is at all time low with respect to white ball talent. In the last 10 years, they have produced only two good ODI players- Josh Inglis and Cam Green. No spinner was developed. No fast bowler was developed. They still depend on old dawgs- Head, Smith, Labu and Cummins, Hazelwood, Starc & Zampa. All are susceptible to injuries and form due to age. The pace trio of Cummins, Starc & Hazelwood will be around 35-39 age bracket and not in prime years. Same with Zampa. Batting wise- Head, Smith, Labu all would be at the end of their respective career as well. Unlikely when you consider the old farts that will be turning out for Ind: Sharma Kohli Rahul Jadeja Pandya Project Sky may be rebooted Ditto Varun C Edited March 11 by The Realist New guy 1
Sooda Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I would give Auqib Nabi a bit of a run in the build up over next year: may lack pace but makes up for with accuracy, new ball swing and control. I think he should be part of the ODI squad to England If he gets to play IPL it'd be good indication of his white ball skills he Had a good vht and smat And importantly, can bat. He could be a pace bowling no 8 bowling AR

Abhishek has a poor list A record, Tilak we have seen gets bogged down for the A team in list A and seems to lack the ability to accumulate briskly, SKY has had his chances. There are others like Ruturaj, who are better 50 overs bats. I would suggest Sudarshan too. Samson, as everyone is calling for, deserves a shot again but the top order is stacked with even Jaiswal not able to get a chance. Ditto re: Kishan who has been good in ODIs for us.

I can't even imagine the nightmare that would have happened He would have blocked out the entire first over for a maiden as he did a couple of times in his last T20i WC tournament vvvslaxman 1
Sooda Posted March 10 Posted March 10 We need to groom Reddy to see how could fare if God forbid Pandya isn't fit. Dube bowling is not good enough

Why were these idiots pursuing with him. Just check his strike rate in the ICC events he played. It would look strike rates from the 1980s. Also failed in all the crucial games. Mentally stronger players would have given us more silverwares in his place. These are Kela's numbers in ICC events series by series against non-minnow teams. Look at th estrike rate in different format Edited March 10 by vvvslaxman

I don't think it's any coincidence that his "decline" as an t20 bat and emergence as a good test opener was around the same time. Not suggesting He is a world class test opener necessarily , needs to be more consistent, but he has had some solid test series/performances The same thing happened with Murali Vijay. Some batsmen can't be good at both formats.

Dube for all his limitations looked unfazed under immense pressure with very few balls to face.
tapandrun Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) Odi wc-2027 will be v.tough for Ind side. 5 batters are already locked Rohit, Gill, Kolhi, KL, Iyer +1 hardik , all are RH batters and with Rohit and Kolhi not having age on their side. There is no LH batter in the middle, can only add verma but then he plays at 6 not sure if that is a good pos. for him. Here is a good 15, but there is no back-up wk and have to drop jaiswal and included Rutu he can be backup opener/ wk/and #4 India 2027 World Cup 15-Member Squad Top Order / Batters Rohit Sharma – Opener, anchor Shubman Gill – Opener, aggressive vs pace Virat Kohli – No.3, builds innings KL Rahul – No.4 (wk), lstabilizer Shreyas Iyer – No.5, middle-order consolidation Tilak Varma – No.6, left-hand hitter / rotation All-Rounders Hardik Pandya – Bat + 6–7 overs seam ******Ruturaj Gaikwad/Ishan – opener / No.4 batter and wk Ramkrishna Ghosh – Optional seam-bowling all-rounder Spin Options Kuldeep Yadav – Wrist spin, attacking middle overs Axar patel Pace Attack Jasprit Bumrah – Strike bowler Mohammed Siraj – New-ball / death bowler Mayank Yadav – Express pace option (can be replaced with Ashok Sharma if he is good and tested before the wc in some odis vs good sides) Arshdeep Singh – Left-arm swing / variation Edited March 11 by tapandrun
deepdynamo Posted March 11 Posted March 11 If you look at the bating pool for ODI WC 2027, we definetly don't need tullas or T20 specialists like Abhishek, Sky or Dube. I will always choose high strike rate players but with an ability to build an inning as well. Here is my batting shortlist. We shouldn't look outside from these and infact finalize the main batters asap. Openers Jaiswal Rohit Gill Middle Order Kohli Iyer Samson( wk) Tilak ( should work on his bowling as well ) Ruturaj Kishan (wk) KL (wk) Sai* ( Not sure atm) Batting Allrounders Pandya Reddy Parag* ( not in the setup right now)

Nothing is locked as of now. You will see more clarity after the IPL. Kishan, Tilak and Jaiswal should be in scheme of things because we can't have top 6 of all right hand batsman. A 40 year old Rohit is not 100% confirmed as well. Also, who is RamaKrishna Gosh? New guy 1

Seam bowling allrounder is with CSK this ipl season, do not think he will make it to the Ind wc side but has better bowling ability than reddy can bat and hit few 4/6 in last few overs, should be tried before wc. Plays for Maharastra side. There are not many options who can bowl seam and bat -- D.Chahar/Gosh/Rana/nabi are only options. Top 5 +1 are fixed thats why verma /Sundar were only 2 options left as parag is also rh batter. deepdynamo 1

Can not go with 3 pacers who can not bat and 5 batters who can not bowl. Need to pick a wildcard. Ashok sharma and One of seam bowling allrounder should be something TM and selectors look for in this IPL season and then give them as many Odi games as possible to get up to speed for Odi Wc
