They've been playing musical chairs with the back up keeper, with Pant/Jurel etc. 2. Other batsmen to bring into the mix : Jaiswal, Ruturaj 3. Iyer should be elevated to captain. Make Gill vice captain. 4. Throw out Jadeja. Bring in Axar 5. Identify the top 4-5 fast bowlers. Bumrah is default selection... Siraj, Prasidh, Rana.. Who else? Arshdeep? sorak 1
Ultimate_Game Posted March 9 Posted March 9 First we need to bid adieu to Jadeja. We aren't winning anything with 3 40 year olds in the team. Need to have batting depth till 8 the same way we did in CT and WT20. And Jadeja can't be part of that 8. Axar has to replace Jadeja. Bumrah is the no. 1 pacer. Need to find 2 specialist bowlers - Arshdeep, Harshit, another pacer or a spinner. The challenge will be where to play Samson as he's a top order batter but our top order is already packed with Gill, Rohit and Kohli, and Jaiswal in the mix as well. Samson is not suited to middle or lower order.

If he develops into a solid bowler with some decent batting output we can play a balanced XI else there will be balance issues which can unravel on a big day. Don't think Dube has the bowling to play that role but we need to find our Dube for ODIs.

We can't compromise on it as extra runs on the board is worth much more than the cover an extra bowler provides. Also KL may make way for Samson. Another thing we need to do is get a left-hander or two in the top order. Right now our ODI team is all right-handers and it allows bowlers to find their line & lengths easily. I would seriously think replacing Gill with Jaiswal at the top or get in Sai so we have lefties in the mix.

cowboysfan Posted March 9 Posted March 9 we need a complete overhaul,even Rohit and Kohli should be on their toes.There is no reason why we cant play 50 over game like a extended 20 over game,we have the players to play more aggressively. Bowling is a major weakness though and i hope they reward domestic performances. BacktoCricaddict 1

We've seen that batting depth pays off in knockouts.
