KV244 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) Why Leg Spinners or Wrist Spinners are not included in test squad of any team? Edited March 18 by KV244

Inability to be consistent mostly is part of non-inclusion. Off-spinner/LA orthodox gives more control. Spinner like Kunble/warne/danesh/Yasir Shah who had control were regular part of their sides Edited March 18 by tapandrun

Ultimate_Game Posted March 19 Posted March 19 But we need to get in Vipraj Nigam and Bishnoi in shorter formats. Vipraj as an all-rounder in the mould of Axar and Bishnoi to hopefully replace Varun C.

This negates his additional qualifications like decent batting ability and fielding. velu and Vk1 2

Don't see any other leg spinner on the horizon.

Unless players like them improves no need to keep them in the loop. They are not improving and there is no initiative to do so Edited March 19 by tapandrun

He needs to be brought into the Indian LOI setup instead of likes of Jadeja and Sundar. Vk1, Sooda and nevada 1 2
BacktoCricaddict Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) Lost in all the Vipraj hype is Digvesh Rathee. I think he had just as good if not better IPL 25. Edited March 20 by BacktoCricaddict Vk1 1
kosingh Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Kumble and Warne set the bar too high. Even pretty good leg spinners like Mushtaq Ahmed didn't get a consistent run. Bishnoi types don't stand a chance to get a consistent run. I don't who the next leg spinner will be who will play 25 matches. For any team. Vk1 1

bsriharsha Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Warne set the bar too high. Even a leg spinner like Rashid Khan gets taken for runs in tests because the batsmen are in a different zone w.r.t their thinking. Vk1 and tapandrun 2
Sooda Posted March 21 Posted March 21 What about Shreyas Gopal? Been more of a limited overs bowler over the years imho was one of the best Indian T20 spinners and should have got a T20i cap about 5 or 6 years ago Now however, Wrong side of 30, Coming off a good FC season but maybe that's a good thing for a test bowler. Knows his game lots of overs under his belt unlike Sundar who is learning on the job. Can bat too of course

Didn't find him that good and his batting isn't that special either. Bowling isn't that better than Vipraj's and the batting is nowhere close to him. BacktoCricaddict 1

He may have got the Ind cap and would have remained the fringe player, or some1 like rahul chahr. test ?? not sure he had a chance with Ashwin+Jadeja / Axar.
Number Posted March 22 Posted March 22 (edited) It is very difficult to develop immaculate control when you bowl with wrist and you end up bowling a lot of half trackers or full tosses, almost one each over. Then fields in tests are always ultra aggressive with very few boundary savers unlike limited overs games and most batsmen nowadays want to maximise on loose balls so such spinners go over 5 rpo easily in tests. So managements these days prefer to go with finger spinners who can give them control on run rate. So only elite wristies can play tests. Edited March 26 by Number tapandrun 1
