Every team that does not qualify has a story. If that catch was taken, if that player had played more games, if that umpire’s call had gone the team’s way, if the team had not collapsed like pins, if it had not rained. if …, etc.

Such imperfections are the dynamics of sports.

Yes teams are roughly equal in IPL so these things come into play

In the end best 4 teams have made it . RR turned up in a must win game

14 matches is long enough to separate the wheat from the chaff. One can always point out a few things here and there (like Punjab with the rained out game against KKR, which they were dominating), but almost always, the 4 best teams make it to playoffs.

I know it must be a raw feeling initially, to see your team eliminated. But give it a day or two, you will make peace with it.

Yes, it is almost pointless to be doing “what if”.

In sports decisions are taken in a fraction of a second.

No one really knows how a decision would pan out when you are actually in that live moment.

From punjab perspective one match decided everything. They cost 103 runs through dropped catches to various batsmen.

Very controllable that. They don’t have a fielding coach and Iyer placed mugs like Shashank, Lockie on boundary

That happens. If denying single is atrocity than Dhoni would be called king of atrocities. The guy has done this so many times, he actually has lost CSK and Indian team numerous T20 matches because of his brain dead batting.

If it hadn't rained against KKR, Punjab probably gets into top 4. At the time Punjab were unbeatable and KKR was bottom of the table. Given Punjab's NRR is way higher than RR's that win would've taken them to the playoffs.

But you can play the woulda coulda shoulda game all day long and every team can come up with reasons and excuses. At the end of the day luck plays a big part in sports and you can't do much about it.
