India ke against toh 350+ bhi chase ho jaata hai. 

 

We suck in 4th innings, both with bat and ball.

4th innings chases are supposed be hard.Yes Indian batsmen have failed their share but bowlers have let them down big time.Like you said 350 plus chases are made to look like walk in the park regularly by Indian bowlers.

We are extra bad in 4th innings chases. Post 2015 we have only 2 150+ chases, in Ranchi against Eng in 24 and the Gabba heist. Failed some 18-19 times. 

 

Fab 4 team were also terrible chasers, only did well in a small phase in 2008-10, lot of credit there goes to Laxman.

Lack of lower order batting was one of main reasons.Top order did not do much better under pressure either.

Batting is significantly worse. ONly Pakistan and BD are worse than us.  But for Pant it would have been even more terrible.

India still faced Carse Stokes Atkinson Archer Tongue and they were supposed to be weak.

 

Kiwi batting is still vulnerable and washed.

 

But yes their bowling is definitely top draw.

Last 10 years batting performance of batsmen in  SENA in 4th innings.  Pant stands out from the rest of the pack.

Thing with Stokes is if nothing works he comes on and bowls and makes a difference. Root has no such ability. He just has to confiud doing random field change hope it works like it does for Stokes
