Australia for 199 runs. Pakistan for 192 runs. England for 126 runs.. We are never going to get that bowling unit back again. At some point of time having Top 6 right hand batsman was going to cost India and it did in the final. The team that planned well eventually with the ball made us pay. We were unlucky ourselves with the ball with Head. Australia had shown glimpses in that 199, game that India top order can be blown away and had they didn't drop Kohli as well it could have been a extremely tight game.
vvvslaxman Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Just now, Frustrated said: Really? I checked that scorecard. He scored only 61 from 78 balls on a flat patta, and guess what. India lost the match. Aus chased down the below par total (265), with 30 balls remaining. That was not a flat patta. Rohit was not exactly seting ablaze or Travis head who had a strike rate of 70 as well.

Rahul will be shi***ing bricks if the asking rate is a touch high in a must win game. We have carried useless Jadeja for more than 15 years. Rohit for several years in T20 world cups. Great pull shot player. SUcked against every kind of other ball. oh give a break. Iyer has done jack **** in ICC tournaments, the couple of matches in WC he scored even KL scored. in the final this FTB could not last a few balls on a a difficult pitch, you guys conveniently forget that and target the batsmen who stayed till near end . which are these matches am not aware of where RR is high and Iyer came and wont it for us? IIRC KL pretty much won us the last CT New guy 1

An innings even Rahul didn't know why he batted like that.

I'm okay with 10 such cleansweeps at home in useless white ball bilaterals as long as we keep winning ICC tournaments. I support the idea of our team experimenting in bilateral series. What I don't support is - the presence of overhyped/overrated batters like S Iyer in the playing11.
Gollum Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Gill bhai, kabhi toh kisi final mein ek 50 maaro. 2 WTCs, CT final, WC final, heck Asia Cup final, sab mein flop. Useless statpadding.

IN T20 world cups against non minnows his strike rate is 73 and average of 7. In ODI world cups his dot ball percentage is well over 50% against all teams. Strike rates are below 80 against top teams in ODi world cup. One of the worst player to represent us in the world cup. Edited June 13 by vvvslaxman

That pitch was extremely difficult. it was an avg innings did nothing for us in the end, but he was not responsible for us losing that day.

IIRC KL pretty much won us the last CT Shreyas was damn good in CT 25, in fact deserved the MOTT more than Rachin. I don't think he has it in him to do well in RSA, Aus. But doesn't take away his achievements. Dude fired in 3/4 KOs in 23 WC and 25 CT. Also was instrumental in beating our nemesis NZ multiple times, his knock in CT group stage deserves more plaudits because of the mental block we had against them, that tournament was after the home test whitewash. KL has flopped too much to make up for all his stinkers. His 50 SR batting in 21 and 22 WCs was unpardonable. Flopped in 19 SF, Nov 19. Phattu attitude, he is actually 10x more talented than Iyer but a mental midget.
Frustrated Posted June 13 Posted June 13 KL (despite being a choker) played a crucial knock in CT 2025 Final (an ICC tournament) and led us to victory by staying at the crease till the end. Same can't be said about S Iyer.

His last 2 ICC tournaments where very good, i watched matches I dont need stats to prove this. let this hack iyer play few matches outside SC, you will see how many runs he will make with his bharatanatyam technique

His plan was to hit 4 and a 6 or 4 and a 4. But ball went for 6 and we won the game. He dsnt know where the ball will land… such is his majesty's power

What I don't support is - the presence of overhyped/overrated batters like S Iyer in the playing11. It was Iyer's century that took us to the final in WC 2023. We were never reaching 390+ without his blazing knock. And even in the CT 2025, he had crucial contributions in the SF and Final. He more than deserves his place in the side and his failures in some meaningless bilaterals won't change that fact

Iyer literally scored a crucial 48 in that match and had a partnership with Axar when India suddenly lost 3 quick wickets and pressure was mounting.

They lost both matches there and also in CT and again in t20 finals. Gollum 1
