No. Ishan was dropped because for the next 17 matches, he averaged 35 with the bat and then tried to avoid domestic cricket or some shenanigans. He wasn't dropped right after the 210

No. India played Srilanka after 210. He was omitted from the series. He didn't flop for 17 match. He made 4 fifties in a row. His career average is 45 now.

Check his record for the 17 ODI's after that and he was extremely inconsistent anyway.

Also, he was selected for that SL series . Check the squads for that series.

HE scored 4 fifties in a row. Within 4 innings. IT has nothing to do with his form.

There were other worse batsmen. SKY, Kela.

If you look at his cumulative average, it has never gone below 40 after he made that 210.

I'm getting 2024 BGT vibes with both the oldies replicating the same form and performance in the WC :((

Kohli is gonna do well, he won us the CT in 2025 and he is easily our best Odi batter even on current form.

In IPL too he was our best batsman apart from Vaibhav, he had higher str rate than Gill and Sai.

HE has great record there. 19 average

Still remember that 1st ODI of 2013 SA tour, At one point, He was some 2 off 26-27 balls chasing 350. Couldn't even touch the ball, that was just after he had scored Double hundred against Australia at home.

You claimed he was dropped from the ODI squad in the SL series. He was not.   He was carried until the World Cup.

And no, his performances were not up to the mark after that knock.

He was not given a run. That is true. Then that controversy. It is the pattern across the formats.  Larger point is many were ignored after 1 or 2 failures where as Rohit had 100 match trial. Kela had so much trial in Tests. If these guys had started their career right now theyw oudl have disappeared long back.

Choose any player not only iyer @Ultimate_Game

Nah, not any player.

Hopefully Gill does well, he is good on pitches with true bounce and its high time he delivers there.

The problem is that Icfers are looking at this with a very narrow perspective.

If Kohli loses hand eye coordination, throw him out before the WC, but if he does not then I don’t think there is any other player in our team who can do as well as him.

No questions are being raised on Iyer, he will be a prime candidate of getting bounced out.

The problem is that we are not accepting that there are other problems in the squad.

Rohits form is a concern and England series will tell us a lot about it.

Iyer is weak against short stuff, Pandya is again a very weak player against good length balls on bouncy tracks, exhibit was him facing Rauf in 2022.

Even number 5 position is weak, we cannot rely on Rahul due to his chokejob in most pressure matches but his replacement Ishan Kishan is terrible against anything apart from gun barrel straight pace.

We need to find proper players for these spots or these players need to develop game for the conditions.

Ishan Kishan is not a good Odi player, we have better options.

People need to remove their rose tinted glasses, he is good on patta and even against spin (low bounce pitches too) but he won’t do well on pitches with pace and bounce.

Don't think you get it. Problem is not the runs but impact and scoring when it matters. I expect Kohli to fill up his boots in group stages. There're only 4-5 decent teams and in WC format most of your matches will be against mediocre and minnow teams with maybe 2 matches max with decent teams. You expect top 3 to be the highest scorers in LOIs followed by 4 and then 5. That's the nature of the game where top order gets to face majority of the deliveries.

The problem starts in the knockouts. That's where our top order has gone into its shell and under-performed. They fill up their boots and score runs for fun before that. And then the knockouts start and they can't stitch 2 games together where they bring their A game. At max they show up for one game (SF) and falter in the finals. I haven't seen Indian top order show up in 2 consecutive knockouts (SF and Final) the way our youngsters did in the recent WT20 where they put back to back 250+ scores!

We've seen Aussies show up consistently in knockouts but in ODI WCs stringing together 2 consecutive performances have been beyond us unless the opponent was B'desh in one of the knockouts (2015 WC QF and 2017 CT SF). That's the reason I want impact players and youngsters in the team. They don't fear failure.

I don't care about the top scorers or leaderboards. What has it given us? I only care about the trophy. As an example likes of Axar, Dube, Ishan may not be top run getters but they show up when chips are down. In fact I don't recall when Dube hasn't shown up to pull us out of fire. These players may not have the stats or show up on leaderboard but they had impact. And based on what I've seen over the last 3 ODI WCs I don't think a combo of Rohit, Kohli and KL can get it done and I want to go with Jaiswal/Sooryavanshi, Sai, Ishan. I don't want to do the same thing again and want to go with high impact players. The goal is not to show up on the leaderboards but win tourneys.

Kishan has not played any kind of intnl crikt in Sena and there are thoughts of him being in playing 11 of the wc in Aus and SA.

He is a back-up wk who can also be a back-up opener this is how team is looking at it and does not want fr this situation to come where kishan is in the playing 11 in the wc.
