Tillu Posted August 1 Posted August 1 People have been speaking about the Indian batters hammering the bowling on flat pitches and smaller boundaries in the IPL and then getting exposed in unfamiliar conditions in England. The fact is that there were flat pitches in India, alright, but it’s the ridiculously small boundaries that flatter the batter, whose mishits can clear the ropes, while in countries with bigger and longer boundaries these same hits are caught inside the boundary line. It’s absolutely imperative, when the new Indian season begins, to get the boundary sizes increased so that our batters get used to that before the World Cup next year. At virtually every ground, there is plenty of space for people to walk behind the LED advertising boards, so it tells you that if this space is utilised, the boundary size will automatically increase. This will also give our spin bowlers the opportunity to bowl a bit slower so that they can get the loop and turn that a slower delivery produces. The medium-pace darters they currently bowl actually help the batter use the pace, get under the ball and power it into the stands. Adil Rashid and Will Jacks bowled almost 8 to 10 km/h slower than the Indian spinners and so were far more effective than them. YahooSports sage 1
vvvslaxman Posted August 1 Posted August 1 SA grounds are not that big either. Also air is thin at places like jo burg. We are barking at the wrong tree. If you get out edging to slips then what is the point of having longer boundaries. Chaos, Manucrick, Suhaan and 1 other 1 3

Lone Wolf Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Boundaries are not the concern we have decent sized boundaries except maybe in Kotla Wankhede etc. But pitches have been trash and absolute disgrace to the sport. They should look of drop in tracks from either Australia or SA to improve the standards.

They are used for multiple sports. Ground size matters only when you try to hit six. If you bat along the ground keep hitting the boundaries like Sehwag what will be the solution?Make the ground slopy? So these are not practical solutions. Besides T20 was designed for batting. Why do you need challenging conditions where batsmen face only 120 balls where they dont have time to get set, where a top order batsman face 35 balls on ana verage. Even on this ground Bumrah earns his respect.
Norman Posted August 1 Posted August 1 He's right. Big boundaries , Hard Bouncy wickets with a tinge of grass and a good competetive domestic setup is usually the blueprint to succeed in international cricket. It helps develop actual batters with solid techniques and strokeplay, bowlers who can bowl fast into the pitch and seam the ball both ways and fielders who actually sprint and throw themselves around on the field. Whatever we are getting in the shitty IPL will absolutely end our cricket if it goes on continuously for another 3-4 years. express bowling 1

Eden Park is extremely small but it still has some movement up front coz the deck has some life in it. It makes up for its small dimensions. Good players do well The COVID period pitches of Wankhede, Pune etc should have been benchmarks. Those were ideal T20 surfaces. Bowlers and batters both enjoyed it. We don't want low skilled players to do well either on dead pitches Ball moves a lot in Hamilton as well. Sky stadium in Wellington is also closed stadium with decent boundary sizes but it offers help to seamers. What you don't need are sluggish surfaces. Chinnaswamy these days is offering some help to Pacers and spinners both. It is not as disgraceful as watching ball disappear to all parts in Wankhede and Kotla. Making pitches flatter at Ekana in later Half of IPL was another disgraceful move pulled by IPL bodies. Edited August 1 by Lone Wolf Manucrick 1
Manucrick Posted August 1 Posted August 1 The narrative that Indian players can't handle big boundaries is completely false We won T20 series in Australia and dominated on big grounds like Harare Players like Vaibhav turn ones into twos easily The real issue is that Indian pitches have become flat highways which ruins our batters adaptability when playing overseas Curators need to stop making 250 run tracks

Besides it they forget everything when the team is on a roll. The template which we had from 2024 in T20s is not wrong. Slight changes you make based on conditions which are mostly batting friendly and will remain so in the longer run for its entertainment quotient. T20s are the most flicker format. Here the specialists aren't too consistent. The only thing which I think is a problem with this side is Iyer. He shouldn't have been the captain given his leadership skills aren't up to the mark and also his batting doesn't sync with the current T20 standards And yes IPL pitches should have something for the pacers at least in the first two to three overs for we see guys like Tyagi, Mayank, Ashok traveling if if they land it perfectly it sits nicely into the pitch for batsmen Manucrick 1

Iyer has turned this team into a complete circus I'm pretty sure that if SKY was captain for the Ireland and England tours we would have won both series. The Mumbai lobby is already working overtime to save Iyer Suhaan 1

That is how we are going to bat regardless of grounds. We had 85% of success under SKy because of that. Iyer as a captain sucks big time. It doesn't matter whether India plays at home or Ireland. It is gigantic excuse to blame the ground for not being able to beat a rookie Ireland side. Even Bangladesh will beat. It is an over-reaction. If you play prasdham, Sundar in T20 and blame the ground it doesn't make any sense. Only ABhishek sharma perishses with that approach. He doesn't hole out in the boundary . Most of his catches are in the slips as they take the ball away. Vaibhav is a noob who bats like that anywhere. He has gotten out even in India while trying to hook. Nasser hussain and co has corrupted the mind of our experts with repeated comment like "This would be a six in Mumbai". ENgland has many grounds which are smaller in size. Look at Taunton. Even back in 1999 some of the sixes from Ganguly went to the river. Manucrick and Suhaan 2

Just play on the ground 2) Hit bigger sixes which will only increase the risk further as you try to over-hit. Basically they want to change dynamic T20 team into a phattu 2014 team. Manucrick 1

Iyer is only suited for an old school Indian T20 team Those ex players said similar things when Gill was picked ahead of Sanju as an opener claiming the team should bat with Gill's tempo vvvslaxman 1
