Of playing day/night ODIs at Premdasa stadium? In this decade the team batting second has won 11 out of 48 matches which did not involve minnows. The last 11 matches, including the current one have been won by the side batting first. But trust the ICC to turn a complete blind eye to this. This entire Compaq Cup tri series can be played from home by flipping a coin.

Majority of the one dayers in sri lanka depends on who wins the toss. Whichever teams bat first will most likely win the match. Even when we toured here in July 2008, the team who batted first won all the matches.

Hmm.. You’d want pitch/weather/condition of the ball etc to influence the outcome of a cricket match. If cricket were to be purely a game of two sets of skill levels pitted against each other, even that would become predictable/boring since the better team will keep winning. That said, The Premadasa’s bias towards the team batting first in Day-night matches is reaching ridiculous proportions. So much so that the skills of the players are now becoming almost irrelevant. You certainly dont want that happening. However, what the authorities can do about it is anyone’s guess. If it was something like dew, maybe they could try to mop the outfield during breaks. If it was a dusty pitch, they could water it a bit more and leave a lot more grass on it so that the pitch doesn’t altogether crumble during the 2nd innings. But what could they possibly do about a swinging ball?
