goose: Samir Dighe. Picked only several years after his prime (he was in his early/mid 30s around his debut), but played one of the most crucial series clinching knocks any Indian batsman has any produced. :hail:

I remember long ago (I think around the 2000-2001) there was this bowler who's last name was something along the lines of "Strawberry"..or something hard to pronounce, and he bowled like 10 wides in every over he got. I can't tell if that was a bad dream or if it happened in real.

He played some good knocks against England IIRC and his timing for the squarecut was quite impressive as well. I think he lacked the mental toughness and fitness.
He did...but I remember him as the last known batsman playing with tail enders and giving strike to them while saving himself with a not out under his name also he definitely lacked aggression

I didnt think Venu Rao was/is that bad, he was no way a ODI cricketer though, if he was to be given a go had to be in the test side- which was never going to happen. Some other guys mentiond here are a bit harsh too- Mongia was an ok ODI cricketer, useful spinner to boot. Kuruvilla wasnt that bad either. Dahiya was ok- miles better than Dasgupta Joginder Sharma wasnt great but a key player in the 07 T20 world cup lest we forget 'tics, You think R Gavaskar was ok? He didnt seem international class. How about Rajesh Chauhan? Rubbish, even though India didnt lose any of the 21 tests he played in. We just had the formula perfected by then under Azhar, bat big and spin them out using Kumble and one of Chauhan, Raju, Hirwani etc etc.

Fair enough, but for me he was on par with Yuvi at that time and even had a higher ODI avg than him IIRC. Regarding the batting with tailenders, is someone like Laxman any better? Close inspection would say no IMO.

^ True. I think Debang played Zimbabwe at home on his debut, might have even scored a century. Then toured Aus in 99- Brett Lee and all. Poor guy. There was an off spinner who played a ODI agasint the WIndies in the mid 90's.. his name began with N. Think it was the only match he played in ever. Jai Prakash Yadav! OH- ROHAN GAVASKAR!!

AYE thats the chappie. Altho he wasnt bad, he picked up a few wickets and turned the ball ok. Got one more -Amit Bhandari I was going to say Avishkar McGrath Salvi , but he was an ok bowler and should have had a longer run. A bit harsh on Sriram Mr Wkt, wasnt given long enough to show what he can do IMO and at the time was the best batsman in domestic cricket. Im sure he even scored 1000+ runs one season.
