4 wickets for Balaji, proving once more that he is one of our top bowlers on flat, slow pitches, which by all accounts, was what it was. It is a shame that he'll be picked for New Zealand, where it is clearly the more dynamic bowlers that succeed, and will not be in India, where it is (among pacers) the steady bowlers who move it around a bit but keep it accurately who succeed. It is surely a fallacy of the primacy given to speed to think that the 140kph bowlers (Sreesanth) whose pace will be negated by the slow Indian pitches are the ones who will succeed in India. Interesting to see Ablish, Harmeet and Gony do so well for Punjab. Gony needs to churn out some strong domestic performances, as anyone can see the visible talent (tall, strong, seams it) but we all know that performances speak louder than (bowling) actions. Wondering if anyone has seen Ablish bowl in the ICL, as he is doing well this year. I did see Harmeet Singh bowl in the IPL and think he is a solid bowler, perhaps a shade below international level, but I think he can serve Punjab well, in the absence of VRV Singh and Gagandeep Singh (selection ought to be interesting when those two come back). Main other news is runs (43) and wickets (2/43 out of 102/3) for IK Pathan. Now that he is completely out of the international scene, I think he could have a valuable season, where he can get overs under his belt, learn how to pry wickets on flat pitches and score plenty of runs.

TP Singh also seems to be putting in some good performances after returning from ICL
Yes, was renowned as the ICL's top fielder - can bat and bowl too - some strong performances could certainly put him into international contention for the number 7 spot, if India choose to go in with a batting all rounder.

India Domestic Day 3, session 1. Baroda 307 v Bengal 252/5 Dada scores 76 runs!! Wow! Irfab has taken 2 wickets. Jhunjhunwala had done well in the last match but this time Irfan nipped his inning in buds. Delhi 154 & 177/3 v Karnataka 260 Looks like the pitch has eased out here. Dhawan is batting on 90 while Bhatia was dismissed for 64. No wickets for Mithun till now. Gujarat 343 v Tamil Nadu 202/3 Badrinath is batting but Vijay was dismissed for 95. I watched his dismissal on Neo. It was a terrible shot. Unimpressive bowling from Gujarat till now. Mumbai v Orissa Punjab 221 & 162/6 v Hyderabad 193 Terrible batting from Punjab yet again. Only Dharmani could reach 50. Anjun has taken 2 in this inning too. Railways 419 v H. Pradesh 34/0 S Sanyal from Railways hit 92 and Sanadeep from HP has taken 7 wickets. U. Pradesh 395 v Saurashtra 212/5 RP Singh has taken 3.

Keep an eye on Delhi debutant left arm pacer Pawan Suyal who came to the ranji side after playing just 1-1/2 years of club cricket. He is from Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and went to delhi to become a policeman, and then joint a club in delhi and very soon he is playing ranji there.

Dhawan run out at 100. 10 and 11 are batting now. There is a good chance, Karnataka can win their second consecutive outright victory. Go Dravid.

Ranji Trophy: Jaffer rallies Mumbai with fine hundred Wasim Jaffer scored a masterful 103 not out to help holders Mumbai reach 184 for three on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match against Orissa at the Brabourne Stadium on Thursday. The Mumbai captain's knock included 13 boundaries. (insert tics-cism) 38 is the number' date=' remember the name too Mumbai  :yay:[/quote'] All respect to Mumbai, but the rise of UP as a cricketing power in the last decade has been nothing short of sensational. UP used to be a domestic backwater along with the likes of Bihar, MP, and Rajasthan and have completely transformed itself. As kabira mentioned above with the return of Raina, Tyagi, and P Kumar to the existing Kaif, RP Singh, Chawla - that's a pretty strong line up which can give most sides a run for the money.

Now the Double hundred by Pandey becomes even more sweeter' date=' coz it came against the Prof's beloved Team. :hehe:[/quote'] Cowlasher is originally a UPite and has now become an overseas player for Karnataka, so UP let him have his moment in the sun to make sure his FC career doesn't screech to a halt. BTW, it's past your bedtime. :giggle:
