coffee_rules
Going back to the debate about who was more resposible for ODI#5 loss in Hyd, when India lost by 3 runs. FOr the same reason, For India to not cross 500, in this test: #1 - Yuvraj, #2 - Dhoni/Dravid #3 - tail #4 Tendulkar/Laxman #5 -Sehwag/Gambhir The TOp order had to be more careful. But if they didn't play their natural game, they would have failed more often. Once settled batsmen don't go on for a bigger score, it hurts more than players not getting starts at all. THe momentum is lost and it's very difficult for newer batsmen to continur from where the previous batsmen left off. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
This pitch was absolute patta pitch. It was found out when we scored around 150 in the last session. So they should have batted on and on as much as possible. It was foolhardy to think that Zak, Ishant, Bhajji, Mishra to knock them over easily on this pitch. Pitch will start deteriorate only by day 4 if at all. So time was also important for us. Link to comment

Ram
?? How can we possibly blame any of Dravid, Dhoni or Yuvraj for not taking us over 500, when our score read a disastrous 32/4 after 40 mins of play? If anything, we should be thankful to these guys. And its quite unrealistic to expect wonders from the tail either. Our numbers 9,10 and 11 all are seemingly average batsmen. What do you expect from them? 50s and 100s? I suppose if you really HAD to point the finger of blame at someone, it should Harbhajjan for that brain-dead reverse sweep he played against Murali, especially when he had not even attemted a single attacking shot against him in front of the stumps. rishi008
we should be happy with the recovery and should be fortunate that we didn't get out for 100 and are sitting on above 400...First of all India should change this trend of being bad starters...as we have been on the back foot on day 1 of test series many times...we just hope that we don't let them cross 450 and then take it from there... Guest Hiten.
Obviously top order was to be blamed for not amassing enough runs for our lower order batsmen to pile on. Having said that, UV has to take the blame (like SRT had to for his shot selection in HYD) when he looked totally comfortable against all the bowlers especially Murali. ?? How can we possibly blame any of Dravid, Dhoni or Yuvraj for not taking us over 500, when our score read a disastrous 32/4 after 40 mins of play? If anything, we should be thankful to these guys. I was a tad disappointed with the way UV got out or you can say I was expecting a BIG hundred from UV given that the pitch had eased out and he was comfortably set. Any runs that are fetched by Bhajji, Zak, Mishra and IS are nothing but "icing on the cake", so one cannot blame them for not getting India over 500. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
One of the reason Dhoni had to bide his time was because ball was new. But i can even accept that. What Bhajji did was terrible. Link to comment

Laaloo
Sorry I havent been able to watch/follow on cricinfo. What did Bhajji do or didnt do ? He tried to reverse sweep muralis doosra twice. First one, wasn't successful, but no damage done. The 2nd time, he missed it again, it hit his thigh and it took his stumps out. Link to comment
