excuses excuses so, why not give walkover and go home Isnt this an international match There was no intent from those two chasing that huge target, they pushed runrate from 7 to 10 and expect other to do that work!
BB I will have to agree with spectre here ... no one expected to win chasing 365. But is asking for intent too much?

Raina deserves to play ahead of these two.
you mean in batting order or selection? selection wise.. he already gets picked ahead of both of them.. but batting order, he is a good attacking batsmen so no.6 or 7 isnt bad for him..

Both batting order and selection wise.

Harsh on Rohit , his first match in India colours in ages, he cant go hammering from ball one. As it happens his innings SR wasnt bad. Had they both hung around for 5/6 overs more they would have started to score quicker and built a good foundation for MSD and Raina to accelerate on.

Right. So you would want them to slog their way and get bowled out for 150ish just to show their 'intent'. So I am guessing, you'd rate Vijay's innings much more efficient than Rohit's as he scored his runs in quick time (showing the 'intent' you wanted to see). There is a big difference in a rookie and a 'seasoned' player. Had Veeru, SRT been playing with a strike rate of 76ish you can expect them to hit their propellers and take their SR over 100 in no time. Rohit has been horribly out of touch and should not have been picked but the selectors/dhoni have been eager to test him out every the opportunity arises. If you're calling Kohli as a selfish player, then I don't know what you on about and would like to know who do you think is a suitable candidate to replace him ? And please remind me what has this performance got to do ANYTHING with the suggestions about them being in the test squad ?

63 dot balls between them. Kallis who looked horribly boring had 26 dot balls. Rohit alone got 34 dot balls. Kohli got 29 dot balls.
VVS, come not you too man. Just to remind you, you're comparing Rohit and Kohli with Kallis.

This was a selfish innings by both of them. Kohli or whomever. If you defend this partnership, there is nothing to argue with u. some fans are more bothered about individuals performances and glories and not worry about what damn happens to the team If Vijay or Raina or whoever did that, i would have made a same thread, i just dont care, i am pissed that they screwed up even the chance for the team to go for that target So, you defend Prabhakar and Mongia also during such a performance long time ago and for heavens sake, why bring this replacement nonsense everywhere maan I am talking about this innings, understand and i am not talking about their abilities as a player

VVS' date=' come not you too man. Just to remind you, you're comparing Rohit and Kohli with Kallis.[/quote'] I didn't expect them to go hammer and tongs. But they virtually stalled the game for 20 overs. I think steyn was the only threat from their side. So i expected them to go after spinners. I mean calculated risks. That is the only way you can be up with the rate. You must take a gamble when you chase 365 before giving up. Our bowling was expected to be dross and utterly mediocre. Even our main bowlers are not that good. So it wasn't a smart partnership given requirement. 19.4 overs 95 runs was a poorly constructed partnership. Less than 5 an over. Not enough singles. No real sense of urgency.

Dude, do you not understand a simple logic ? These players are NOT our first choice players, meaning they're short on experience and cannot emulate the same as the other experienced player who would do different under such circumstance. You simply cannot pick a player from the bench, give him the bat and ask him to chase down 365 without any of our experienced players in the line up. You might've sound sensible had some of our specialists done the same because they know what they're suppose to do and (more importantly) how to do it. I cannot explain any better or further than this.

May be bit of shuffling in the batting order could have made some difference. Dhoni could have come at 3 or 4. Possibly.
You think so? I can already see 10 different threads on how selfish Dhoni deliberately denied batting opportunity for youngsters.

But he could've always sent Abhimanyu Mithun up the order as he showed he had the right intent when he hit 24(23) with TWO sixes (mind you Kohli and Rohit hit a combined single six). I'm sure he would've got India the start they were looking for :hmmm:

What has Kohli got to prove that he would start playing selfish. He hadly batted in this series before this game, and the last time he batted in a proper run, he smashed pair of centuries. He is a permanent fixture of our side, He doesn't have to play in any selfish manner. Spectre, YOUR LOVE FOR RAINA IS FINE, BUT YOUR HATE FOR KOHLI is just pathetic.

Its astonishing how Rohit couldn't even rotate the strike. Vrat you could excuse..afterall he has has played only around 20 ODIs. And i don't buy the excuse that Rohit was out of the int'l level for so long. First of all he didn't deserve a place in the side after his scores of 0 and 1 in Vijay Hazare Trophy recently. Don't think he has improved even a bit since he was axed.

The way both built their partnership, it was quite evident that they were not keen about the result of the match! Gave the impression that target is too much to chase down and we are not going to win this match :(
