LOL,you dog lovers should start adopting street dogs than buying exotic breeds,that might solve the problem to an extent. My grandma was once bitten by a stray,im not advocating mass extermination coz of that,but common sense must prevail and something must be done about the problem

My Brother-in-Law was bitten, not too long ago, by a stray dog right outside my house. He was holding his 3-month old daughter at that time. Scary stuff.

Mandira Bedi named her dogs after Sardars and there was a hue and cry that she insulted Sardars. Aamir named his dog Shahrukh and people thought he did this to insult SRK. People consider dogs as inferior creatures and hence dont name them after Indian names which are mostly names of gods.

What would you do if your kitchen is infested with cockroaches? Do you try to kill them or ignore them as they are just bothering you? Just trying to get an idea of how much compassionate you are as a human.

lolz probably kill the roaches (too many) but I save drowning ants and put spiders in plastic bags and throw them out (can get pretty big in Aus). I just use a pillow to guide fly's out of the room. But yeah compassion is important for togetherness which helped humans survive in wild for thousands of years. Just like Agression etc were important compassion was too and still is for more togetherness. But I guess those who can easily kill things will benefit heaps if there was a zombie apocalypse or something. I wouldn't think I'd have much problem with the killing if I have to. Most stray dogs like humans go about their day without causing trouble to the vast human population.In fact in a country like India they do provide a very important role of scavengers. It is only the packs of dogs that become too large and some rogue dogs that create trouble.If the authorities make sure that these rogue dogs are caught in time before they hurt humans,most people will not mind the stray dogs. People become anti -dogs when they see scumbags like Menaka Gandhi and some other opportunist animal protectors put these stray dogs before human life.When rogue dogs kill poor babies these bas567ds make insensitive comments which put off people. Besides people feel helpless when nothing is done against violent dogs that harass people.Why should such dogs be allowed on the roads when trouble making humans are put behind bars for doing the same? If people feel protected ...they will protect the dogs too.There are enough laws to protect the friendly and harmless strays which form a large population of strays.There should be more laws to protect humans from the violent rogue dogs . As for the suggestion about sending them to forest....it is not practical.These are not wild dogs.If left in the forest they will create havoc with the forest ecosystem.Besides they will introduce diseases into the wild population Unfortunately the sterilization pro gramme has not been very successful in our country. I find the outrage to dog killing for eating very hypocritical unless you yourself are a vegetarian. How is eating dogs any worse than eating cows,pigs chickens? In.fact dogs being animals are a part of the food chain and should be treated the same way.Catching dogs to eat is far less cruel than the inhuman breeding of chicken in pathetic conditions just for their meat.If the people in the north east do not mind it and do not take offense...then the rogue dogs should be sent there.That is the most eco friendly solution to the problem. Some rare tribes along the indo-china border even eat their own dead.They are probably the most earth loving people.

Cows ,parrots and horses often have Indian names.

BARNALA: In a bizzare incident, stray dogs on Monday evening killed a 4-year-old boy in village Dhaner. The body of Arshadeep was found near the carcass dump situated just outside the village. The dogs had ravaged the vital organs of the boy. Agricultural labourer Gurdeep Singh said," Arshadeep had gone missing in the afternoon when he had gone out to play. When till late evening the boy did not return, an announcement was made from the village Gurdwara speaker system about the boy gone missing. The villagers started looking for the boy as soon as the word spread. Another villager, Manjit Singh Dhaner said, "A villager passing by the carcass dump found about a dozen stray dogs encircling a body and immediately called others. They witnessed a gory sight and found that Arshdeep was badly eaten up by the dogs". Somehow villagers managed to drive away the dogs from that place and called up the ambulance and the police. Police got the body of boy for the post mortem. Arshdeep's father, Gurdeep had no words to describe the loss and he only said 'please get back my son'. The villagers have demanded to stop the growing menace of stray dogs in the area and for financial assistance to the poor family.

stray dogs are big fuss in every village and city...when it is dark they gather and bark on people like they will eat somebody...elders manage to run off for them but how would small baby or child do..its a real mess...people have to do something on their own... :(

Stray dogs are the creation of public.Most of the stray were once pets.People will dump them in the streets after loosing the initial fascination over them.They mainly feeds on the garbage that people throws on the road.People can easily dispose bio-degradable wastes within their surroundings rather than throwing at the streets.Menaka Gandhi is only using the laws to protect animals permited within our judiciary

The problem is generally administrative, their numbers shouldn't have increased like they have in recent years if sterilization and some level of euthanasia was pursued. We have been a very tolerant, maybe careless society thus far with dogs/pigs/cattle/monkeys roaming freely all over the place. I wonder if its even an objective to change the status quo.

A six-year-old boy was mauled to death by four stray dogs when he tripped and fell on them in southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar on Tuesday afternoon. Police said Mamoon was playing with friends in Noor Nagar when he fell on the pack of dogs sleeping on a heap of sand. As the dogs woke up and started barking, a frightened Mamoon began running. The dogs chased and attacked him, the police said. “As the dogs attacked the child, his friends fled. The child suffered injuries to his head, neck and face. The child’s mother and neighbours, alerted by his friends, rushed to the spot from the jhuggis in Gaffar Manzil and found Mamoon bleeding profusely,†a police officer said. “A crowd of people chased away the dogs. So, we couldn’t catch them and hand them to the civic authorities. We have begun inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC,†the officer said. Fakhrey Alam, a resident, said the incident happened at around 11 am. “A passerby tried to chase the dogs away but failed,†he said. “The passerby then called other people and, when a crowd gathered, the dogs ran away. There were claw marks all over the child’s body,†he said. The child was rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body was sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a postmortem, the police said. Meanwhile, high drama unfolded outside the Jamia Nagar police station after residents staged a protest and raised slogans against the civic authorities, demanding strict action against them. After local politicians intervened, the protesters left. Terming the incident unfortunate, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation said its responsibility was sterilisation and rehabilitation of dogs as required by the law. “The civic body cannot catch and release dogs elsewhere. Thus, controlling such incidents is not possible,†the corporation said. Alam claimed Tuesday’s incident was not the first in the area and that such incidents had occurred in the past too. “It is dangerous to walk in the area after dark and dogs often chase us on our way from Gaffar Manzil to Noor Nagar,†he said. “At least 12 dog-bite incidents have occurred in recent weeks. Civic workers let go of stray dogs after sterilising them. we had similar issue in our hometown. A boy was killed because of stray dogs. The parents sued the municipality and court has ordered them to get rid of all the strays. :(( They had to be put down being a dog lover this saddens me. I wonder If india has something like humane society in US or if we ever get something like that.
