^Last time we were very close to actually winning the series. Should have drawn the game in Durban with more application from our batters. Then in next game after scoring close to 400 runs, we lost, we should have drawn that game as well. It was flat wicket. It depends where we play our 3 Tests. Any one know the venues?
centurion, durban and capetown with almost no gap between the tests.i am really worried about our bowlers.we need some real backups to bowl in the kiwi series to keep our strike bowlers fresh.

Don't forget last ZAK wasn't the same bowler he is today. This would be my team. Sehwag Gambhir Dravid Sachin Laxman Dhoni Irfan Pathan :) Harbhan ZAK SREE Ishant/Anyone else

All will depend on how our bowlers perform. For India to win or draw in SA, our bowlers have to perform. You can't expect the batsman to bail us out all the time. I am hoping SRT has a great series. Will this be his last hurrah before the WC and then he retires. :omg:

Centurion will be batting beauty. The best thing BCCI can do is arrange ODI series before the Tests. Durban is not that fast wicket anymore. We have to start off very well like the last series. For that we need ODI series before the Tests.

I don’t expect it to happen. The Saffies lift their game against us, even more so at their home. They have been tough to overcome in India in the last two series they played here, let alone in their own country. A drawn series equates to a win for me.

Forget about preparation...our ODI series against NZ ends on the 10th, and the first Test against SA is on the 16th...six days to go from facing Kiwi rubbish on Indian tracks in ODIs to Steyn and Morkel on Saffer pitches... Then again with Srinivisan-Modi ***** fights over IPL cash and the like, who in the BCCI gives a **** about Test team preparation :two_thumbs_up:

Last time around, Zaheer & Sree were in decent form with the ball, but our batsmen were not in good nick. This was the series that marked the decline of Dravid, a temporary demise of Sehwag (albeit the resurrection of Ganguly was a positive) and Sachin was just coming out of a form slump. So we could not convert half chances to a win or a draw. If not for that spectacular spell by Sreesanth in the first test, we'd have been white washed 3-0 last time. But this time we have the opposite problem. Our batsmen are doing fine. Our bowlers' fitness/form is suspect. If SA prepare seaming tracks to neutralize our batting gods, 300 will be the par score and then its up to our bowlers to make a match out of it. Our cupboard of backup seamers looks bare & concerning. Should one or two of our main seamers get injured (which is to be expected, given that we have hardly fielded Zak-Sree-Ishant fit and firing in one series), we are looking at long days on the field. I dont think Munaf has the heart to play against big teams like SA.

Last time our openers were a struggling Viru and inonsistent Jaffer with DK doing better than both. This time we will have Viru with GG/Vijay, better than the pair we had last time. Last time SA had Pollock, Steyn and Morkel, 3 very good pacers. This time they will have Steyn, Morkel and Parnell. Last time we had VRV Singh as the 3rd seamer!! Comeon even a Jaskaran Singh is a better bowler than VRV Singh. Above all, we will have Sachin and VVS in the form of their lives. If Zak, Sree, Ishant and dare I add PK to that list, are all fit and available for selection, we will have a more than a decent chance of giving the saffers a run for their money. If SA indeed go for bowler friendly tracks, I would not mind us going with 4 pacers, all offering something different. But most SA pitches have lost their bite (the bite comes back only when SA are down in a series and then they will make you play in grasslands).

Bumper. I think we should be okay and need not worry about injuries. Against Aussies, we dont need to bowl more than 20 overs of Zak and SS. So that leaves NZ series where should bring in somebody like MP and PK to bowl 30-35 overs per innings, spinners can take care of rest. But real question is whom can we afford to rest against NZ. I dont think, SRT, VVS, RD and MSD will rest. So that leaves GG, IS, Zak and HS to kinda prepare for SA by resting now. Boy I want to win in SA so much now. It is highly probable with this team. It is just hard to compete with such a strong batting line up. Inform SRT, VVS and VS are just impossible to match in any corner of the world.

watch out for Ishant ' date=' this will be the turning point of his career ..am not Kidding[/quote'] Yeh he will never play again after the tour.

1. Can BCCI ensure all top players are rested and fresh to play? (Rest all key Test players incl. MSD & Raina for some Aus and NZ ODIs. India-A for ODIs) 2. Can BCCI send all key players 3 weeks before to SA? Acclimatize, organize warmup matches? Why would you send them fewdays before Test1? Ridiculous BCCI.

It will be very tough for us. SA is always hardest tour for us. Yet our batting is best in the world. And our bowling on seam friendly tracks will be deadly, Sree was brillinat last time and zak has come on miles since that tour. Quality thread, we will win. It wont be easy though! No battering:giggle:

:giggle: Will be tough, but considering the form that lachu, god, and our rookie batsmen are in, it's safe to say that we start the tour as favorites. Even england was able to manage a draw against them, then our team is sure capable of a win.

Every one is taking SreeShanth's name..yes he did bowl well in the last series, but he is not now what he was then...look at his bowling on Second day of Bangluru test, bowl was new moving and he wasted it, by bowling wayward....I have no hopes on SreeShanth we may try anyone new, like Jaydev Undakat in SA conditions, he can be very handy their with his left arm swing like he was in England tour as well as Sudeep Tyagi or Umesh Yadav...These three have good actions and rhythm in their bowling....otherwise there is no pacer to pick for us except Sreeshanth
