Nice stats, had you included his ODI record for that period, Sachin would have absolutely killed the competition. Not to mention ODI was the most popular format back in the days and was taken far more seriously than ODI nowadays.

Titan cup final in 96' date=' [b']95 in the Independence cup 1st final (IMO its a very underrated knock of Sachin) vs Pakistan, 128 vs Sri Lanka in 98 after the Sharjah win just to name a few.

This victory was achieved while 10 overs to go and plenty of wickets in hand. can't be a good knock. b)While chasing in ODI, a good knock can be played after allowing run-rate to climb up to 7-8 runs per over. If you are covering RRR right from beginning than it can not be a great knock. In this innings, Tendulkar never allowed run-rate to become an issue, so how this could be a good knock? c) Opposite team line-up should include Mcgrath, Ambrose, Donald and Warne. Innings played against an attack, anyway inferior to this, either in pace or spin, can not be considered for a good innings. So how this could be?

I prefer the 2010 version and there are a couple of reasons. In 1998, I was 8 years old and he was the perfect batsman to entertain an 8 year old kid. All I knew about cricket was him and his batting. He was the only batsman that I saw who could hit any ball for 4 without too much effort. There was no such thing as a 'good' ball bowled to him; it was simply a ball that he decided not to hit for 4. Now, I'm 20 years old and (hopefully) understand a bit more about batting and the game in general. His versatility is something I admire more now than his attacking skills back in the day. He seems to switch from defence to attrition to attack seamlessly. There seems to be a lot of thought behind everything he does... and doesn't do. There's also this realization that he might be the best player that I ever see in my lifetime, so there's this urge to enjoy and cherish his every moment with the bat. ps: This is a heavily daaru inspired post so apologies for any typos, grammar errors or nonsense generally..

At 25, with the kind of extra-ordinary talent SRT has, it was expected of him to do all that. But at 37 going on 38, my God!!!! He is not supposed have good reflexes, but he does. He is not supposed have good timing, but he does. He is not supposed to have rock-solid defense, but he does. He is not supposed have that hunger in him any more, but he does. He is not supposed to run between wickets like a rabbit, but he does. He is not supposed not have that kind of concentration, but he does. He is not supposed to play shots all around the wicket, but he does. He is not supposed to keep bailing out/winning games for India, but he does. He is not supposed to... ...well you get the picture. When comparing SRT's greatness to any modern day batsman, there are a few who come into the picture. However, if you compare the performances of any modern day batsman in the twilight of their careers, I think the difference between him and them are as wide as the Grand Canyon.

solid post dandaroy 2010 fer me. 200 in ODI against Steyn and add to that incredible form at IPL (youngster's game) and incredible for at Test level at 37~38 is mindblowing.
