Vettori, Vaas, Gibbs, Lee, Willis, Bhajji, and Kapil (very difficult for me to say it but the reality is that he ain't better purely as a bowler than the left over 17 or so)

Danny Vettori probably. A bit harsh as I like him...but to be fair to Bhajji, before this extended damage limitation bowling phase he was often terrific

The point of this poal? :dontknow: But if I had to pick one, it would be Brett Lee. The summer of 2008 was pretty much the first time and the ONLY time he looked like a leader of the attack. Of course, he had to contend with guys like Mcgrath and Warne till then, but he failed to establish (despite that brief sparkle) his pre-eminence within their team, even after they retired. Pretty much everyone else in that list, irrespective of their numbers, led their attacks for a significantly longer periods than Lee did. In a way, that proves how inconsistent he was, as a bowler. Harbhajan would probably be a close second.

) Let me tell you why Kapil is a great bowler.Pollock got a lot of wickets because people tried to score of him as Donald was operating on the other end,Ntini had that privilege with Pollock,Kumble had Home grounds, Most of the other bowlers had great backups or spearheads in their squad.The only 2 people in the list who had to carry their attack on their shoulders are Kapil and Hadlee which puts them head and shoulders above the rest.

I would like to change my vote to Gibbs if given a chance. I have never heard of Vettori being a force in bowling and changing the course of a match, All others have done at some point. May be I don't follow Vettori much, but he looks a bad bowlers as well.

Kapil has been my boyhood hero. But in spite of that I don't think he will make it to an ATG 25 list of bowlers. Good as he was, his last few years did a lot of damage to his career. Had he retired after getting to 401 in Aus his figures would have been much better. The fact that he was still part of the team as the spearhead even after Sachin's debut tour says more about how lowly India's bowling was more than how good Kapil was. He was over as a bowler by that tour to Pak (he had one last hurrah in Aus later in 91-92) but had he stopped bowling after that 89-90 tour of Pak his figures would have looked like he definitely was among the ATG 25.

bhajji While he was with a legend like Kumble he was sorta ok, but without Kumble he has not been able to step up and lead the spin attack.

I don't think Bhajji is the worst 300 wicket bowler. It's no secret that he's had to bowl on some really dead pitches recently. Hopefully in the upcoming foreign tours he can really get back to his best form.

hmm... I'd say it's tie among Bhajji, Lee and Vettori. Pretty soon Bhajji will get to 400 and then we will have clear winner for worst 400+ wicket club bowler :winky:

It's Vettori quite easily from the list. Have to say though, if Kaneria picks 39 more wickets he'd be the undisputed "winner"! :--D
