let us see what england has achieved in recent past they were lucky to draw series in SA and lucky to win ASHES if not for rain.Lost to West Indies in West Indies. Morgan is a product of Middlesex and is from a non test playing nation, would be unfair to expect him to not try and reach his potential at test level, KP yes born in SA however came to england as a 17 year old to play club cricket in Birmingham and lets face it would never have got anywhere in racist SA. And surely if Vaughan is saying England can "dethrone" India that would be implying that they are the king? Surely this is what your collective victim mentality has been craving for some time.

A few points mate. KP - I think it is fine that he plays for England as he is half English. Jonathan Trott - He qualifies through his grandmother. I'm think qualifying to play for a country through your Grandparents is a bit much. It's clear that Trott feels South African as he went out celebrating with them after they won in England a few years back. Eoin Morgan - There is NO WAY this guy should be allowed to play for England, he has nothing to do with the country. I don't know if you have met many Irish people but they hate England and want them to do badly in every single sport. When the cricket season is over and Morgan is watching the football you can bet he will be supporting whoever England are playing. About your earlier point that England have 10 fast bowler's that would walk into the Indian team. That's pretty contentious mate but if that's the case then there are at least 15 Indian Batsman who could walk into the English team. By the way mate i support England and India, i just get defensive whenever someone has a go at either team. I think people on this board have overreacted to Vaughan's comments. I think that England have a young and exciting team and over the next 2 years or so could compete for the number 1 spot.

I was only being sarcastic reg. the Commonwealth XI’ remark.. If KP or someone else chooses to play for England, then it is completely their choice. They’re as much part of the English team as anyone else. Its not like the ECB is going around towns of South Africa poaching talented South Africans with British mothers or fathers. It does not matter where you were born, or how you look or how you speak. All that matters is what you sign-up for. And all these players, whether it be KP, Trott, Morgan or Kieswetter, signed up to be part of the English team. Rather than mock the English team for this, we should congratulate them on their inclusive policy.

Its just the bitterness from all the non-deserving nonsense we've been used to. I mean calling our batters oldies and bowlers piss poor, that's just dumb. The ranking is up for grabs in the coming months, we're no Australia with Mcgrath/Warne. The thing about England being #1 would really be a surprise, considering that they do not have an outstanding batting line up and their seamers are prone to injury.

To be fair to him, he didn't say anything wrong. Just that it gets irritating when English ex-players hype their team a bit too early. This happens every single time. Perhaps they can't contain the excitement

The English media, especially Sky, need to look at employing pundits other than ex-England captains. Some of them appear thoroughly unlikeable e.g. Botham and Atherton. I think the thing that grates many on here, is that these guys consider Australia the only side 'worth' beating. Even in their greatest years Australia had the decency to laud India and publicly hail us as the final frontier. England need to start showing a little more respect to all opponents and surfaces, not just the odd traditional rival, before it can think of being number one.

Completely agree with vaughan. India didnot deserve to number one test team in the first place. How can you become a number one test team without winning any away series and with mediocre fast bowlers in my opinion
