Sir ji do you know about the pitches made in plate league matches and field and batting standard of Vidarbha...Yadav mainly gets his wicket by clean bowled or LBW...edges do not carry to the slips because of low bounce and if carries they drop the lollipops too...His SR and average is pretty good considering those pitches...he plays in plate league which no one cares about...forgets about good pitches..u will normally see dusty pitches there..even spin part timers take wickets on those pitches....and u also need support from other end too which is barely there....and sometimes because of his team's inept batting in first innings, he is not even get to bowl in second innings.....coz they most often lose by an innings... and you rare wrong that plate league does not have bowlers who bowl over 125 kph...we have quite a few pacers who can bowl up 135-140 in plate league too..like Abu nechim, Varun Aaron, Rahul Shukla, Shrikant Wagh, Umesh Yadav, Ranjit Mali, Sujoy Tarafdar, Preetamjit Das, etc. Do u think average of 25 and SR of 49 after 17 first class matches is bad in any FC leagues..if you think than you are wrong and take a look at Sreesanth's record in FC, you will get to know how hard it is to take wickets in Indian FC too...
RKT.India I am impressed by your Knowledge of cricekt,I would love to speak to you and become friends....my email is vishalvirsingh@yahoo.com...Do shoot an email and we can write on emails and even speak up.I am in Mumbai..Vishal

First class average of 25 and here are some videos of him.
He looks quite fit compared to typical Indian malnourished bowlers. He gets a little bit of swing on the flat tracks so he could definitely generate some good swing on lively tracks of SA. He has upper 140k speeds as well. I think he should be given a go if Zak stays unfit. If he can bowl 145+ consistently in sub continent pattas then he can definitely bowl 150 on the pacy pitches of SA. My two cents
Once he gets into the team, the team management will ask him to reduce his speed and concentrate on line and length. That's it. Another trundler will be in the making.:--D

I am only worried that he gets smarter and realises the quick-fix way to prolong his career... you need a certain amount of 'crazy' to want to bowl each and every delivery of your career as quick as you possibly can (except the slower ones ofcourse)

Are you telling me that Steyn or Zaheer would not get wickets in the Ranji Plate League due to pitches, I think that is absurd. That being said, the insight you have given is fascinating.

I saw Abu Nechim bowl one over at 140kph in the IPL, all over the place, I'll be shocked to see if he can maintain that speed with accuracy and in First Class cricket. I'm sure the others would have more publicity if they did bowl at 140kph, but I'm happy to be proven wrong there.

Look how he is faded in a season-by-season basis. He started off well but look how his FC performances have declined. As for Sreesanth, I have maintained his an awful bowler for First Class cricket who is simply incapable of bowling on flat pitches in such a format.

varun aaron was talked highly by ganguly..and rahul shukla by mumbai indians..was chosen in their final team of IPL too..I have seen tarafdar and preetem jit in ICL bowling over 135, wagh also bowled in 130s in IPL... you are talking about zak and steyn..they are experienced enough to take wickets uin any condition.. and to get that exp. indian bowlers need to play international cricket... I am not saying he can do miracles if selected to play...my point of view is give him a chance when others too are not doing well...may be it can work..its all ifs and buts, but remember zak before 2006...he too was as bad as any indian bowler...its experience and guidance that makes him better...and UY needs it to...he has everything in him to be a genuine quick... otherwise we have a long list of unfulfilled potential fast bowlers....he can be another in that...but without trying we wont know THAT....as we do not have many options

The problem isn't with who's bowling, who should be dropped and who should be selected. The issue is with the mentality of these bowlers. Even a great bowler will have a strike rate in the mid 40's. That's essentially a wicket every spell. In test match cricket the new ball bowlers HAVE to be patient and prepared to stick to a plan A which is to bowl their stock delivery and then occasionally use a different delivery to surprise batsmen and that 2nd delivery depends on the pitch/conditions/batsmen's weakeness. This last test match is the perfect example of the difference in this mentality between SA and India bowlers. Steyn/Morkel didn't bounce out the Indian batsmen. They usually bowled a tight, sharp line on the offstump, pitching it fuller and THEN mixing in the short ball for shock instead of overusing it. THAT'S the type of mentality the Indian bowlers need to have. The patience and discipline to stick to the right line making subtle changes to their length depending on the conditions of the pitch/ball and THEN every 7/8 deliveries really trying hard for that shock bouncer. Instead only Ishant tried to stick with the same tight line but he's a seam not swing bowler. Sreesanth bowled like he had no plan. A few deliveries wide of off, a few leg side, long hops and generally completely erratic and wayward garbage. That's what Zaheer brings to the side. Consistency, patience and the ability of stick to a plan with the new/old ball. You only need to change your plan maybe once at the most twice in a spell unless you're facing a devastating batsmen like Sehwag for which there is no plan. With Sree and at times the other bowlers it looked like they changed their bowling plans every over and that's never going to get you 20 wickets even on helpfull conditions. It's highly unlikely that Sree/Ishant are going to run through the SA side with top batsmen in a fiery spell of bowling. Instead it's going to have to be done brick by brick, over by over by good consistent bowling instead of half hearted bouncers, leg side bowling and over pitched deliveries followed by stupid meaningless staring contests with the batsmen.

They drop their pace to prolong their careers so that they can earn more money.

Well yes and no. What Zaheer brings to the team most importantly is the ability to take wickets steadily. To put it into perspective Dale Steyn, largely accepted as the best bowler in the world has a strike rate of 45 over the past two years. Zaheer's strike rate is 47. Both have almost the same average also over the past two years. That's the definition of a genuine strike bowler and a strike bowler is at his best when used in quick sharp bursts to attack the batsmen. But Zaheer has gotten no support from either Ishant or Sree so he gets overused. Steyn on the other hand has bowled with Morkel/Ntini/Kallis over the past two years. It's going to be interesting how Zaheer is used coming back from a hamstring injury which can be something that lingers or flares up again especially with sportsmen who do a lot of running. It is vitally important that whoever gets picked in the final eleven realize that they have a role to play and bowl to that role otherwise it puts the other bowlers and usually Zaheer under a lot of pressure and forces them to bowl more overs. That's why having an underachieving Sreesanth is such a burden on the team.

WTF! We have 10 bowlers in the plate league bowling 140 kmph!
they all are not 140..they are all above 125 kph..as MSB said that no one bowls above 125 in plate league...then i wrote those name who bowl above 125 to 140...someone is 130, someone is 135, and 140 too

I know that IPL only requires one to bowl four overs per game but Yadav looks fit to bowl 20 - 25 overs in a day's course.

I saw him hitting over 90 MPH recently in challenger trophy during the hot and humid weather in Indore..two consecutive deliveries were 146 KPH there...he sometime bowled as fast as Nannes in IPL on the speed guns display

I dont think Yadav is ready for Test match yet, he may have occassional speed but needs more experience. But its upto G.Kirsten, MSD and senior players to assess him in the nets.

Jaydev Unadkat was picked at least 3 years early....he needs develop...physique and strength wise especially which will continue until the age of 24-25..

Munaf Patel simply HAS to be selected for future series now given how poorly Sreesanth has responded this year. My ideal squad would include: Two tall seam bowlers: Munaf/Sharma Three Swing bowlers: Zaheer Khan/two other swing bowlers -one LH, one RH(no Sreesanth) Two spinners: Bhajji/Ojha 1. Create a genuine atmosphere of competition between similar bowlers: The two swing bowlers after Zaheer to compete against each other. Sharma and Munaf to compete for the seam bowler/tall bowler position. This will force the bowlers to actually work harder and fight for selection instead of just coasting by, taking test caps for granted. 2. It also creates a REAL plan rather than the musical chairs crap that we've seen from the selectors. We would have a like for like replacement/substitute for that tall seam bowler with Munaf and Sharma and same with the swing bowlers. And that should apply to the spinners also. Given the performances of our bowlers (except Zaheer), all of them need to realize that their positions are NOT guaranteed. If they respond and rise to the challenge then fair enough. If not then they need to be caste aside for others who are willing to fight and work hard on the basics. Starting with Sreesanth. Drop him now and that puts the rest of the bowlers on notice. We've got a great year of foreign tours coming up and the last thing our team needs is to be regarded as a joke because one of our front line bowlers is an over aggressive, stare down, pie chucking donkey.

I don't know much about him in details but he looks impressive. If he never gets picked for not having experience then he will never gain any experience in the first place. Who knows, he might just be another trundler

Sreesanth has been bowling well and has been unlucky its not easy to go to southafrica after playing in india and adjust to higher altitudes with out a practice match ,Sreesanth will play a major role if india has to bounce back in the series .
