Are South Africans mentally weak?

Genuine reasons- 1. They did an awful lot of talking before this series started and continue to do so, rather than focusing on performance. 2. They rest on past laurels and can't win even on a tailor-made pitch, being outthought by one man who is not even 100% fit = Zaheer Khan. 3. They have one leak too many in our ears but then start whining the moment they cope with some stick from our boys (a la Punter's teams). 4. They lack the ability to bat out and save/win a game and generally tend to crumble with just one or two men trying to take the attack to the opposition. 5. Their attempts at getting under the oppositions' skins usually ends up with an egg on the face for them, more often than not. 6. Their choking knows no boundaries at times. Feel free to add points/state your opinions on the subject.

i have to agree with achilles here.the saffers are a bit of pussies(especially smith).they have the temerity to complain about our pitches but lost today on a pitch tailor made for them.we dont see any indian players complaining about the pitch, the players actually seem to admire a sporting pitch.

Well we got smashed by them a week back' date=' if they're mentally weak what does that make us lol! Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves...[/quote'] naah - we always stink it up in the 1st game of a test series @home or away - especially away. Besides they hit the lottery in terms of conditions anyway... hows married life treating you soody pop?

Come on' date='[b'] they have lost a test match by 87 runs, its not like innings win or something and a thread claiming they are mentally weak comes out!
its not just this match. They go into many series' and tournaments as favorites but somehow something or the other happens to their team again and again and they falter at the big stage. What will you call this tendency ??

I know they have choked many times in the past, but calling them chokers and mentally weak every time they lose is little OTT.

Actually they are good chasers in Tests. After all they chased 400 plus in Australia. Also they saved the test at Lords by playing well in the 2nd innings. But yes.. they allow the pressure to get to them.
