Hindustani Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 The IPL ‘snub’ is a complete non-event. He will still be remembered as one of India’s best ever captains, as someone who heralded a new era of test wins abroad and made one of the most remarkable career comebacks in Indian history, not to mention his place amongst the top 10 all-time great ODI batsmen. He came in with a bang in 1996 and left with a bang in 2008. A true Indian legend! Dada started the change with his attitude in Team India, hope to see him in different roles in the cricketing field. On a totally irrelevant note, how and where is Nagma these days ?
coffee_rules Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Apparently he has not retired. It's only speculation...
Hindustani Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 btw, what is so breaking in this news ? he already retired from ODI/Tests and don't represent Bengal in Ranji, so which form was he playing to get retired from it ?
Ram Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Its probably only a matter of time before Dada gets into a coaching/consultant role with the Bangladeshi team. It’s quite literally a match made in heaven. They speak the same language, share a similar culture. Besides, Dada is already hugely popular in B’desh. This is unless of course he decides to stay in Kolkata and get into Bengal Cricket assn like Kumble did and this is probably more likely than the former.
CSK Fan Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 So, it was all a hoax as he has denied the reports
flamy Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 So' date=' it was all a hoax as he has denied the reports[/quote'] Another comeback by Dada :woot:
Zelig Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 BCCI and media are playing phucking tennis with Dada :hehe: Poor bwoy :((
Ashraful_Rox Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 He was my favorite cricketer from India. I hope like the rest of you he becomes a mentor or a Coach. Best of luck, Dada.

I hope that happens.
Aniruddha Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Common dada.......come back as India's next coach
Andy Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I wish he had not denied and said Yes i am hanging up my Boots.
spectre Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 He retired on a real high from International cricket! thats the most important part. I also wish Dravid Sachin and Laxman does it the same way. That gesture from Dhoni was just amazing, gives me goosebumps thinking about that.

rkt.india Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 The funny part was he played domestic cricket to get ready/fit for IPL. I think his price was too high' date=' if he had kept $200000 he may still have got the deal from some franchise[/quote'] how many domestic matches he played? one ranji game i think....

zen Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 This breaking news was waiting to be broken :P .... Hoping to see Dada in the commentary box!
pensionplan Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 "I have already retired from international cricket in 2008. If I don't get to play IPL I will not be participating in any forms of domestic cricket. But if I do get an opportunity to play IPL I will play domestic cricket to stay fit," Ganguly said in a statement, seeking to put an end to the controversy. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/top-stories/Sourav-Ganguly-hints-retirement-wants-to-coach-India/articleshow/7446548.cms -- I have an issue with players trying to use domestic cricket as a means to get ready for the IPL especially when they try to pick and choose games as Ganguly is suggesting here. And the shameless CAB I am sure will oblige that where they will allow Ganguly to rob a youngsters spot in the domestic side.
