Trichromatic Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 French president pushing homework ban as part of ed reforms He doesn’t think it is fair that some kids get help from their parents at home while children who come from disadvantaged families don’t. It’s an issue that goes well beyond France, and has been part of the reason that some Americans oppose homework too. Hollande’s reform plans include increasing the number of teachers, moving the school week from four days to 4 1/2 days, overhauling the curriculum and taking steps to cut down on absenteeism.

kubrickian Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Man sues wife for giving birth to ugly baby and wins lawsuit. We promise this is an actual lawsuit and not just a harsh snap we heard while playing the dozens: A woman in China was sued by her husband after she gave birth to a baby the husband considered so ugly he insisted she must have had an affair. After all, his wife was gorgeous and he clearly believes he is a dreamboat, so how could they have an ugly baby? When it came to light the woman had had a lot of plastic surgery before they met and the new daughter merely inherited her old face, the man not only divorced his wife, but sued her for the equivalent of $120,000 -- and won. The presiding judge ruled the man had technically married the woman under ÅÇalse pretenses. Regardless of how his wife looks, sheÃÔ better off without a guy so hideous on the inside. http://now.msn.com/man-sues-wife-for-being-ugly-after-their-ugly-baby-is-born Amazing.

Crookbond Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 32-yr-old booked, fined for getting rid of illegal banner A 32-year-old Chembur resident has been fined Rs 1,200 after he was caught pulling down an illegal political hoarding from the gate of his housing society. Having been taken to Chunabhatti Police Station and detained for over an hour, he was booked under section 110 of the Bombay Police Act, which deals with behaving indecently in public places. Ironically, following the recent Ganpati celebrations, BMC workers pulled down nearly 3,192 illegal hoardings across the city, but not a single person has been booked for putting them up. Hitesh Rupani, who lives in Sindhi Society in Chembur, was returning home at around midnight last Tuesday when he came across the huge hoarding put up by a political party. ŵhe banner did not have a receipt on it, which all legal hoardings should have. I am totally against hoardings that deface public property, and decided to bring it down, said Rupani, who runs a music academy and owns a recording studio in Chembur. Just as he had started, however, two cops who were on patrol walked up to him. According to Rupani, they asked why he was bringing the hoarding down, and when he gave them his reasons, they asked him to complete the job before telling him he was going to be booked. They asked him to stuff the hoarding he had pulled down in his car, and accompany them to the police station. Űnce there, the officers present were debating what I should be booked for. Initially, they threatened me saying I would have to pay a fine of Rs 12,500, he said. After over an hour, he added, they seemed to agree that he should be booked for behaving indecently in public - the fine for which is Rs 1,200. Rupani had only Rs 1,160 on him, which he handed over to the cops (who, in a rare act of generosity on the night, gave him a receipt for the full amount of Rs 1,200). ŵhe police are supposed to book those who deface public property. I was booked for doing the opposite, he said. Last year, Mumbai Mirror, along with former Test cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, had initiated a campaign to rid the city of the thousands of ugly, illegal political hoardings. Following the campaign, the BMC had changed the rules that govern putting up banners, while all major political parties had agreed to support the move (their rider: theyÃÅ come on board if all their opponents did the same). When contacted by Mumbai Mirror, Damodar Chaudhari, senior inspector of Chunabhatti Police Station, promised to look into RupaniÃÔ complaint. ůormally, we do not book people for such a thing. I will personally check if my officers have booked someone for removing an illegal hoarding, he said. http://www.mumbaimirror.com/article/2/201210312012103103170994129a98de4/32yrold-booked-fined-for-getting-rid-of-illegal-banner.html

Sara Ege, 32, is alleged to have beaten Yaseen Ali 'like a dog' for failing to recite passages from the religious text, before burning his body at the family home in Cardiff to try and cover up what she had done. The youngster's death was initially believed to be a tragic accident following the blaze at the house in Pontcanna, until a post-mortem examination revealed Yaseen had died before the fire broke out, Cardiff Crown Court heard. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2226408/Mother-beat-son-7-death-set-body-struggled-learn-Koran-heart.html
