cricket_usa Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Mine would be the 1987 Reliance cup. Remember Dave houghton getting century and Chetan Sharmas Hatrick. Oh Mike Gatting's sweep. But the best world cup so far, for me is the 1992 in OZ and NZ. We first got cable and the commentary was in English and not in Hindi. I can also remember Gavaskar saying he wanted Pakistan to win the finals cause they are our neighbours. Good ol days.

The best first match memory i have is from world cup 1996 Nathan astle scoring a century in the opening game of the tournament. Graeme Hick was batting well too and but kiwis bowlers fought back to win the game by 11 runs.

Don S was making fun of him and my badaa bro beat the daylights of Don :hehe: Next day (?) WI lost to Australia and it was Don S' turn. I remember him crying as he went to bed. I came to know later that my badaa bro beat him for no apparent reason :hysterical::hysterical: It was funny to see these big guys getting wound up by result of a cricket match, as a six yr old kid

Mariyam Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 The first WC game I saw bits and pieces of the India vs Pak game in 1996 WC. The first WC game that I saw completely was India vs Zimbabwe at 1999 WC. Tendulkars' father had passed away and he had had to leave for India for the cremation. Olonga took 3-4 quick wickets in the end and we lost that game. Came back to haunt us in the super 6 as points were carried over or something. :((
Chalks Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Didn't follow cricket much (if at all) till I was 6 years old (1980), so I'd have to say first real memory of WCs is Zimbabwe beating Australia in the first match in 83.
