Feed Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 More... Ashish Nehra hoping to be fit for South Africa game By: Debasish Datta Date: 2011-03-04 Place: Bangalore Ashish Nehra yesterday more or less ruled himself out for Sunday's group match against Ireland, saying he was hoping to be fit for the tie against South Africa on March 12. Nehra, who missed India's both the matches against Bangladesh and England with a back strain, sought to down play the concerns over his fitness and said that he is being careful not to rush his comeback. "I am recovering very fast, but I am really cautious about when I should play. I am improving everyday, so I should be playing any of the next three matches," Nehra told MiD DAY. India are set to play their next three Group B matches in seven days as they take on giant-slayers Ireland on Sunday, Holland on March 9 (Delhi) and South Africa on March 12 (Nagpur). Their final group engagement is against the West Indies on March 20 (Chennai). "I am regularly going to gym and have started bowling at the nets. I am getting my rhythm. I am not in a hurry because one thing I have decided is that whenever I start playing, I will play till the end of the World Cup," Nehra said. "For me, the World Cup starts actually from March 12 against South Africa. That's the key match and I am hoping I will definitely play. It's a 45-day tournament and there's a long way to go." The cricketing world might have rejoiced at the thrilling run chase by both England and Ireland, the 31-year-old from Delhi rued the flat wickets of the subcontinent. "The bowlers are being hit because the wicket is rock solid and the ball is not moving much. It's an absolute batting paradise," Nehra said. "We all know that the wickets are flat in Mirpur and Bangalore, as also in Nagpur. So one cannot blame only the bowlers."
Sid Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 We are waiting for him as if he is Wasim Akram in dsguise
Ranjha Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 NERHA IS A EKDUM MAST PLAYER. HE can even swear at the captain cool dhoni in a game and get away with it:d
zen Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Nehra is doing the right thing by not rushing himself to play
vvvslaxman Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Thanks to this ridiculous schedule Nehra will be playing in time against SA. Otherwise Nehra would have been replaced right at the start.
ganeshran Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I am sure the saffers must be quaking in their boots :phehehe:

maaki Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 And what happens if Nehra is not fit afterwards.. We need a 3 fast bowler attack to win matches and no way sree can be the 3rd bowler The team selection has been garbage.. whats the basis for selecting Sreeshant, why not give Piyush chawla a run before the world cup.. Now we have no one to replace these guys...
singhprakash72 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Well That Is Professional Indian Team For You...they Plan Their Bowlers To Get Fit At Crucial Time In The Tournament...without Being Sarcastic...isn't Bcci Not Thinking Hard Enough On Player Fitness...or Even How Unprofessional It Is To Carry Injured Players Without Proper Replacement For Crucial Test Matches And Now A Freakin World Cup !!!
Mariyam Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I remember seeing a news clip this evening where they showed Nehra doing the Usain Bolt dance or step or whatever. Didn't look unfit to me. http://cricket.yahoo.com/photos/india-players-do-the-usain-bolt-dance_12992515231479#4 I think 'injured' is an euphemism for " we are going to start Munaaf and Zaheer over you'
Watson87 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 We are waiting for him as if he is Wasim Akram in dsguise :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
Clarke Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 He was requested to do some ads for Dabur Lal dant manjan. The dental health of our citizens comes first.

If they were professional, they would have immediately announced a replacement for Nehra. But we are keeping him as if he is undroppable.
Zero_Unit Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 We are waiting for him as if he is Wasim Akram in dsguise haha ... so true. I LMAO when he does those facial expressions after taking a catch or wicket. DAMN FUNNY!
Mariyam Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Nehra is one of those rare players who has to be unfit to perform well in a match. Remember the 2003 WC game against England. He took 6 wickets after he puked. Don't know what the coach is thinking by resting him.
someone Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Wonder where does this put Praveen Kumar? Surely if Nehra is getting a 3 weeks break, PK should have had the same!!!
Ultimate_Game Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Wonder where does this put Praveen Kumar? Surely if Nehra is getting a 3 weeks break, PK should have had the same!!! PK had a more serious injury and needs 2-3 months off.
vishalvirsingh Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 is NEHRA Still UNFIT? is Nehra Still UNfit,,,,, why was nt he dropped when praveen was replaced, whats the use of playing a 50% fit bowler hoping that he will be fit. in the world CUp all fast bowlers need to be Supremmely fit. DO u guys agree that Cricket is a Physical and Skillsfull game, if only Skills matter then even a 10 % fit Sachin should be hitting centuries. there r many 50 % skilled guys who excel bcos they have the Attitiude , skill and are strong enuf to push themselves hard. I saw a fielder(Irish fielder) throwing himselves n sliding over to stop a full flagged shot by his body as he dived on the green grass..............one can and shud not field players like Nehra ,, we have guys who are well below international standard in fielding like Sehwag Sachin Gautam OJHA Munaf Nehra ZAK guys who match international stadards in fielding yuvi kpohli pathan Bhajji dhoni piyush Ashwin Sreesanth Great fielder( one of the great ones better than average international stadards) Raina We need to play Umesh Yadav to replace NEHRA as well. if not Umesh, Vinay Kumar or ISHANT can be considered buti feel Umesh Yadav would be the best replacement.
