Lurker Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I remember that. Waqar put an extra slip in and made sure that Ganguly saw him making the change. He then bowled the one coming in and trapped him in front. Yep. Thats the one :hatsoff: The old fox still had a few tricks up his sleeve. In a sense World Cups are also about old generation showing their last comeuppance. 1992 had Kapil, Imran, Botham. 1996 had Miandad. 2003 had Wasim-Waqar. One of lasting memories of 2011 would remain Shoaib Akhtar's retirement, his watching the game from outside telling that time waits for none.
Asim Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Catch was not dropped. Razzaq was standing at wrong place. Btw Anwar's catch was dropped by Dravid. Wherever Razzaq was standing but it that was considered as a chance for Sachin and in my opinion it was a turning point of the match...
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 its not boring !! its just amazing to read such things which couldnt be watched live write it up man.. i am sure whoever is interested will surely consider it an awesome read I witnessed'em all. but have memories intact (reasonably so) from 3 of them only.. 96/2003/2011 only.. and pretty boring all of them - as it was my solitude (out-of-pressure/circumstantial/self-enforced) that was common among all the three. :( but we won all of them :yay:
ludhianvi Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 in 2003 turning point was Sachin's catch dropped by Razzaq... Catch was not dropped. Razzaq was standing at wrong place. Btw Anwar's catch was dropped by Dravid. Wherever Razzaq was standing but it that was considered as a chance for Sachin and in my opinion it was a turning point of the match... IIRC, Wasim then goes on to say "tujhey maalum hai kiska catch drop kiya hai" :two_thumbs_up:
Sachin=GOD Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 IIRC, Wasim then goes on to say "tujhey maalum hai kiska catch drop kiya hai" :two_thumbs_up: :agree:

Asim Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I watched 96,99,03,11 ball by ball and 96 and 03 were most depressing for me... In both of those we were on favorite sides especially in 2003 with probably the best ODI team we ever can have but more importantly Pak loosing those games mean we are out of world cup... If I make a list of unforgettable and most dejected defeats of my life, these 2 will easily come at top of the list…

vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 I have watched all 9 matches. Benson & Hedges 1985 too? I saw that.. that was the most satisfying of all. Utter domination by INdia over all teams. Only guy everyone was pissed off at was Ravi shastri who played so selfishly for AUDI car. His only competition was Krish srikkanth who was darling of channel 9 commentators especially Richie Benaud. L Siva bamboozled Pakistanis.
maniac Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 watched all 5 matches...infact all 7 including the 2 T20 games. 1992:Have memories of watching the match on DD....Bunked school,Was in 6th Standard, remember Kapil paaji's performance, Miandad's antics,Srinath bowling a beautiful yorker to one of the paki middle order batsman 1996:just before my 10th standard exams(preparation holidays),that was the only match I was given exemption to watch completely by my mom....I remember my dad wanted to switch off the TV during Anwar-Sohail partnership, but I persuaded him and requested him to keep it on and just around this time Anwar was out to give us hope. Ofcourse,I remember this match like yesterday Still can't beleive 15 years have gone past since. Jadeja's fireworks,Sohail-Prasad,Miandad fielding in longon or Longoff,Still not being confident especially when Miandad and Malick were batting etc etc. 1999:For some reason this was the most boring off all Indo-Pak encounters.around or before this time we played pak like in every other series.I know this was during the height of Kargil war and emotions ran high but from 1996-1999 the India-Pak matches had lost their charm.Indipendence cup,Sahara Tournaments,Pak tour,Asia cup,Asian test championships and many other random Ind-Pak games. 2003:me and my friends started drinking from ball 1 of Pak innings till the match ended .Man did Sachin's innings fire every one up,One of my friend was crying with tears of joy when Sachin was just about smashing everything. 2011:Woke up at 4:00 to watch the game was still drowsy-despite being nervous, pumped up,excited for the last 6 days still not a morning person, may be the nyquil I took the evening before to wake up early still had the effect but boy did Sehwag's innings get me going.Had my heart in my mouth when Yuvi was out and Sachin was not looking very confident.I was nervous till the very end even though I knew the match was won never say never was even nervous when Zaheer bowled those 5 wides and Misbah was looking to hit out with a mammoth task. These are my experiences just wanted to share with you guys

rkt.india Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 You forgot Raina's level headed batting at the end without which 5-0 would not have been possible...that was the inning of the match for me
vpg0002 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Thanks for bringing back the good memories from all these games.
therocky Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 All matches had one thing in common, Pakis got f*****
