I still back his batting potential. But bowling the release point, his useless front arm, wrist position.. there are lot of things that are wrong with him. Tstotsobe was bowling only at around 125 to 135k. He was beating batsmen with pace. Ideally he should be playing for KKR where Akram could be a great source of help.

He is 6 foot four inches tall and has a high arm action and hits the seam. Pathan is not tall and is a skidder.

Irfan Pathan - what a talent we lost I was really hoping to see Irfan Pathan come back from a lengthy injury layoff and performing well this IPL - maybe not in terms of wkts but at least in terms of regaining his previous pace and swing. But looks like Irfan is beyond salvage and has become just another 120 kph trundler similar to Balaji with neither swing, pace or bounce. Of all the talents India has lost Irfan has to be the top of the list :(( He could do anything when he came on to the intl scene as a teenager against Aus in Aus. Who can forget his yorker to clean bowl Adam Gilchrist with a 140+ swinging delivery. And his swing in to the right hand batsmen was simply amazing. Plus he could bat pretty well and was a decent fielder. Now you just feel sad seeing him bowl the way he is right now. Sincerely hope BCCI learns from this disaster and implements a plan to nurture our current crop of pace bowlers as I don't want to see Sreesanth, Ishant Sharma or other youngsters like Varun Aaron join the likes of Irfan Pathan, Balaji, RP Singh, VRV Singh etc.

He can still make a come back but it most certainly is not going to happen through this Tamsha kirkut.
I have my doubts now. It's not just the runs he is giving away and lack of wkts. He isn't generating pace at all and his swing is conspicuous by absence. I mean Ishant hasn't done too well performance wise but he has bowled some hostile spells and has clocked 145+ quite often. Ishant looks like someone who has regained some of his old touch but Irfan is a sad sad story at the moment.

Who knows he may turn it around like Zaheer :smiley: What a site it would be to see Irfan bowl around 140 kph with swing and accuracy :pray: For that matter I hope RP Singh spends some time in county cricket to regain his mojo - he was pretty good when he last toured England. Just imagine if we have Sreesanth, Ishant, Irfan, RP, Nehra, Munaf bowling as well as they can to support Zaheer, we would be very very hard to beat :dance:

Let's be honest. He was never a world beater in test cricket. Yes, he had his moments but take away the wickets against Bang and Zim (school boy team in 2005) and what you're left with is pretty poor.

You do not lose talent when there itself was never any major talent in place. Just like every other youngster in India, he came in, 2-3 good matches, and suddenly people have hopes on him for the next 10 years.

This is a stupid comment. Irfan was very talented...& his performance was not 2-3 games....but he made a lot of mistake...as happens to young fast bowlers in India. The coaches make them lose their pace...so that they can bowler so called line & lenght. Pathan himself wanted to swing the ball so much...that he ended up losing his pace plus swing. He then made himself usefull by being a good hitter....but that also didnt lasted long. Injury & early return from injury resulted him getting injured again. Plus DD paying such a huge price on him..putting that extra pressure...he cant handle. But I hope he do good. But dont play for India any more. IPL & first class games is where I will like to see him

Irfan Pathan I'm not Indian, so I dont know much about this guy, but I've seen him bowl so far and well...I'm not impressed I heard he went for 1.8 Million at the auction, so I was expecting him to impress I havn't been that dissapointed since the I saw the Star Wars prequels Can someone help me out here, why did this guy go for so much at the auction, and why is he not performing at the moment? :hatsoff:

It's stupid to judge anyone based on IPL performances.
where even the likes of Steyn and Morkel get hit for 6s by complete noobs!! He is moving the ball but without any accuracy and much pace. Has to work really hard after the IPL is over if he ever wants to make it back. Moreover the price at which he was bought for makes him look even worse!!
