China urges world to back Pakistan

BEIJING: China reaffirmed its support on Thursday for efforts by its ally Pakistan to combat terrorism after the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden by US forces, and urged the world to help Islamabad. Foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu stopped short of directly criticising the daring raid by US special forces on Pakistani soil that ended with bin Laden's death but said national sovereignty "should be respected" at all times. "Pakistan is at the forefront of the international counter-terrorism effort. The international community should understand and support Pakistan," Jiang told a press conference. "We support Pakistan's position and understand and support Pakistan formulating and implementing a counter-terrorism strategy based on its national conditions." Since Sunday's raid, Pakistan has been on the defensive over its failure to find bin Laden, who was living in a compound near the country's top military academy in Abbottabad. Islamabad has rejected those criticisms, with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani saying that the United States and other countries shared the blame for not finding bin Laden sooner. Gilani on Wednesday called on the "entire world" to help Pakistan fight terrorism and extremism -- a call quickly answered by its close ally Beijing. "We believe that terrorism is a public enemy of the international community and the international community should work together to combat the potential terrorist threat," Jiang said. "A holistic approach should be taken to address the symptoms and causes of terrorism and eliminate the breeding grounds." Earlier this week, Jiang called the death of bin Laden a "positive development in the international anti-terrorism struggle" but on Thursday, she suggested China did not necessarily approve of US methods. "We uphold that countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity should be respected," the foreign ministry spokeswoman said.

I feel sorry for Normal Pakistani Citizens too. The ones who work hard to so they can eat at least two meals a day. But, I think the whole existence of Pakistan is around one single factor, Try to be better than India or show India down. And that is cause for the downfall. You cannot run a nation of one point Hatred Agenda. Initially they tried to play the Muslim card which might have worked right after partition, but now it is not working. Majority of Muslims in India are well educated and have a rational mindset. They have decided not fall in this trap. Also, I think Pakistan is like isolated from other Muslim countries. One of my Paki friends told me once that he felt at home with Indians rather than the Arabs. According to him Arabs and Middle east don't think Subcontinent Muslims to be real Muslims, and hence Pakistan tries to show its power by doing random stupid things and encouraging extremism.

Al-Qaida confirms Osama bin Laden's death CAIRO – Al-Qaida on Friday confirmed the killing of Osama bin Laden and warned of retaliation, saying Americans' "happiness will turn to sadness." The confirmation came in an Internet statement posted on militant websites, signed by "the general leadership" of al-Qaida. The announcement opens the way for the group to name a successor to bin Laden. His deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is now the most prominent figure in the group and is a very likely contender to take his place. The statement, dated May 3, was the first by the terror network since bin Laden was killed Monday by U.S. commandos in a raid on his hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The statement's authenticity could not be independently confirmed, but it was posted on websites where the group traditionally puts out its messages. "The blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is too precious to us and to all Muslims to go in vain," the statement said. "We will remain, God willing, a curse chasing the Americans and their agents, following them outside and inside their countries." "Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness," it said, "their blood will be mingled with their tears." There was no indication how the group will retaliate. Rather than making vehement cries of vengeance, the statement — entitled "You lived as a good man, you died as a martyr" — struck a tone of calmness and continuation. Though it included praise of bin Laden, much of the 11-paragraph statement was dedicated to underlining that al-Qaida would live on, depicting him as just another in a line of "martyrs" from the group. "It is impossible, impossible. Sheik Osama didn't build an organization to die when he dies," the statement read. "The university of faith, Quran and jihad from which bin Laden graduated will not close its doors," it added. "The soldiers of Islam will continue in groups and united, plotting and planning without getting bored, tired, with determination, without giving up until striking a blow," the statement. It said bin Laden was killed "along an established path followed by the best of those who came before him and those who will come after him." In the statement, al-Qaida also called on Pakistanis to rise up in revolt against its leaders to "cleanse the shame." It also said that an audio message bin Laden recorded a week before his death would be issued soon. The writers of the statement appeared unaware of the announcement by American officials that bin Laden's body had been buried at sea. These jokers are trying to divert attention to India, Hamid Mir ( Apparently the only Journo who had access to Osama - wonder why ) was challenging India and said this Biryani, Gilani and other pussies should hold a presss conference I am amazaed at Pak poster trying to show bravado to India, till now - we've been quiet, we have nailed u suckers b4 and will continue to do so..no matter how many chinky noodles u get ..and don't forget we can pawn u outside the sub-continent as well Pak is like a ch####naal at this time..so STFU
The much revered Pak army and ISI are coming under criticism for letting another country walk in, conduct a major operation and go out. What better way to hide their incompetency than to bring back focus on India? That will unite everyone and they will be praising the army again As for how much is the ground reality behind these threats? The spokesperson for Iraq comes to mind

I think it's because psychologically, its much easier to think that the problem is out there and caused by boggymen ( american conspiracy, CIA, Jews) than to look inwards and to fix what is wrong internally- this is true at a personal, and at the societal level. In many ways, doing this makes it much easier to function on a day to day basis.

We call upon our Muslim people in Pakistan where our dear Sheikh Osama was killed on their soil to rise up and revolt so they can cleanse this disgrace that was brought upon them by a handful of traitors and thieves who have sold everything to the enemies of the Muslim nation, and disregarded the feelings of this great Muajhid (Pakistani) people and let them rise up and start a massive public uprising to cleanse their country (Pakistan) from the filth of the Americans who have wreaked havoc in the landâ€.
