Was Mithun disappointing ?

Search on the internet for the article if you want.[/quote'] well, he was bowling 140s in ipl and he was considered quick by lot of cricket pundits and coachs. his bowling action is not complete yet and i still believe this guy can bowl quick if he shortens his jump. having said that, he cannot modify his bowling action overnight.

No not disapointing. Mithun was brought in because Munaf couldn't go. He did the job as the first change fast bowler which is to be economical, keep the pressure on and take the occasional wicket. So yes he did his job. Now for the future? He'll need to develop something else to take the next step. Either a lot more pace or genuince swing.

Found him disappointing. Even though he picked up couple of wickets he didn't look threatening at all. Munaf should replace him in the 3rd Test.

look that was his first series and was not actually carted around. most of the indian bowlers are carted around in ODIs, even Ishant, but it does not mean he cannot be successful in tests. if we can give chances to Unadkat, Vinay, and Mithun, why not him...he is not worse than them. He has some more ingredients to be a pacer rather than these guys and he did swing the ball at pace in one of the IPL game on a good sporting track when even Morgan found him difficult. we need to give bowlers enough chances with Indian who has the ingredients of fast bowlers, like pace and good bowling action and develop from their. Aaron and Yadav both have these things going for them. Yadav is not just 140, he can bowl high 140s.

I agree, I would infact prefer Aaron at this moment as he is probably a bit more objective in his bowling.

Going by our recent history when generally our third seamer is a passenger 2 wickets is an amazing bonus

Not fair to judge him so fast. He paid his dues by getting wickets in Ranji so he did deserve a shot. I think given time he will be fine.

He is just 21 right now. I think he needs to work on his action a bit. I think we need to get Tyagi who for some reason has lost his mojo, Aaron and Yadav into the fold. Maybe not in tests but T20s and ODIs.

he is a very one dimensional bowler.doesn't have much pace and variety,and can only get the ball to shape into the right handers.even at his pace he would be effective if he can get the ball to go away.also he needs to pitch the ball up and make batsmen play him.he has been guilty of pitching the ball too short until now.

Tyagi could only play 3 FC ranji matches last season because of injury but still took 18 wicket at an average of 17 and strike rate of 26 with 2-fifers helping UP to get 2 important wins. He is taller and faster and is not one-dimensional because of his good action. He needs to play a full season of Ranji this year and take handful of wickets again and remind selectors that he is still there. For me, he is the best upcoming fast bowler in Indian domestic. He can bowl both with new and old ball as he has the ability to reverse the ball. And he is ore suited to tests right now because of lack of variations like slower ball.

I'm very dissapointed that Umesh & Tyagi are not in the test squad right now.Both were in the 15-man squad in some previous series but they didn't get a single game.Umesh was in the squad in the SA series but he was a passenger there.Unadkat was preferred above him.So Umesh & Tyagi both deserve some chances or it will be injustice to them.Both are better than Mithun by a long way.Umesh bowls in the low to high 140s consistently & got a lethal indipper.Tyagi on the other hand is a complete bowler.He has got good pace(high 130s to low 140s),bounce & can move the bowl both ways.

Never expected anything from trundler mithun anyway..... Just like his colleague Vinay Kumar..... And to imagine they rocked domestic cricket in Ranji in 2009-10 shows the pathetic state of players they were up against.

I think tyagi has to be fit for playing...What would poor selector do, if he is not even fit to play 3 FC games....He reminds me of akhar. He spends more time nursing the injuries than playing cricket.

I would have given him benefit of doubt when he bowled his heart out in Lanka on those dead pitches. But Barbados, fast bowlers dream place, plenty of carry, and you don't even run in hard and hit the deck. I thought he would atleast do that, run in and bowl at decent page in 85 mph or something.

An alrightish bowler but unless he adds pace or swing will never be a serious threat. Is the cupboard really that bare though - are there no other talents coming through at all?
