Dravid is looking decent apart from chasing the odd ball outside. He needs to bat through, Vijay needs to stay out there for a while, we can't be 2 down too early, we need to have WI desperate for wickets that they try something different

Try to score 3 or 3.5 RPO in the first 20 overs or so without taking too many chances. Get as many singles as possible. Then go for the kill in the remaining overs. Dhoni, Raina and Kohli at the end can accelerate.

When everyone was convinced that it will be a dull draw, tactics were changed and batsman started going for the score. At that time some 180 runs were needed in the last 30 overs. England panicked because of the attack. Bored commies suddenly got excited and started saying that India can do so because of the attacking batsman. To England's relief, they picked some wickets and India couldn't enforce a win. Same tactics can be used here. If we go for chase from start wickets can fall and pressure might lead to unusual events. But we can save wickets for say 25 overs. Try to score, say 70 runs and change the gear in last 20 overs. 95-100 runs in 20 overs with 8 wickets remaining, that can be a good way to go.

As always, wickets are key. If we can get to 80 with only, say 3 wickets down, we should go for it (and get it easily). If 4 or more fall before 80, we need to bog it down and play for the draw.

Raina the spinner.. Raina's spin bowling has been a revelation on this tour. Today also he helped us to wrap up the WI second innings which was allowed to prosper because of various reasons.. He has taken wickets on key occasions in this series and has helped the team in the spin bowling department when we appeared to be desperete for wickets.. I hope he continues to bowl in this way in future and become a dependable spin bowling option..
