Did you watch. You can go back to cricinfo commentary and check. Pacewise he was on par with Praveen. Second of all Dinesh Karthik was standing two feet outside against James Anderson in 2007 tour. That makes Anderson at trundler. Weird logic. Batsmen stand outside the crease to negate swing.

RP Singh was unplayable in SA with his swing during world T20. He may not bowl exactly like that. But definitely we need variation and experience. RP got both. I don't expect the same success. But he is possibly the best option we have at this point.

The only bowlers who has bowled phaast in this series is Ishant and Broad. They've both bowled around 144, although not consistently. On the other hand, tremlett and anderson have been trundling at 75-82-83 mph. P.S. I saw bresnan clocking 87-89 consistently

If someone is playing him 2 feet outside the crease, then PK is not as fast as Tremlett, like you claimed .... I think that was the point he made Cricinfo will not tell you that and thus the comparision you made was not apples to apples :winky:

Agree .Hope we produce quick bouncy pitchees.Pitches in India are slow and even some of the fastest tracks-Nagpur,Mohali turn out to be flat.

No.. batsmen stand outside the crease for all kind of bowlers. Even against Brett Lee. That is largely to do with negating the swing rather than handling pace. Tremlett bowls short of a length deliveries so no point in standing out to negate swing. Batsmen tend to stand outside the crease against all swing bowlers.

I a not opposing rp selection. i watched match, a few balls as loosner bowled below 130 doesnt mean he is slow and i am not evel aganist pk. i am against our mentality of line and length when we see that even our best batsmen are troubled by their pacers

It is not about line and length. It is about wicket taking ability. Onions clock faster than Tremlett. Whole lot of English bowlers clock faster than tremlett. Yet they don't play. Why?

Onions clock faster than Tremlett. Whole lot of English bowlers clock faster than tremlett. Yet they don't play. Why?

Onions was playing regularly for England and took wickets, he was out because he was injured for one year and remember Tremlett too made his debut in 2007 and only played very few tests since then in 4 years. Onions would have been in the team but for injury and who other whole lot you are talking about. There are no other else except these bowlers including Finn, Sehzaad. Problem is England has plenty of options and they can pick and choose between who is fit and in form. This is not the case with India. WE will have to groom these guys who have potential.

Yes I do. He has been bowling quite well till date and I wont him write off just because he is a trundler. And especially when we dont have any tearaway fast bowler waiting in the ranks.

Likes of Yadav and Aaron are bowling 145k+ consistently if they are not tear away bowler than who is. Unless we groom them, they will not become good. Like we selected Vinay Kumar in ODI series, we could have selected one of these two. Vinay will also not get more than one ODI in this series so it means we are wasting a place for a bowler who is already 27 and does not have any real potential to be a strike bowler. Instead we could select Yadav or Aaron for grooming purposes and play 1 ODI in the series that Vinay is supposed to play to give experience. They wont do anything worse than Vinay, but will gain real experience and also would have chance the world to show their pace. This is how we can groom bowlers, but selectors are wasting a place instead of grooming a potential future bowler.

Bowling fast is over rated to some extent unless you are 150+ or at least 145+ consistently. For any bowler with skill 130+ is good enough.
