Old guy Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Look at what i wrote.. he isnt very good at rotating strikes..so he will struggle in subcontinent... i never denied that he played well in england...and against england in india...he did but his SR is not that good venue score SR HYDERABAD 15(41) 36 DELHI 14(15) 93 MOHALI 91(104) 87 MUMBAI 20(37) 54 KOLKATA 42(61) 68 delhi he got out too early...got a six and a four...so forget that... Mohali we all know has bounce and here even the crap english batting scored 298... so he played a good knock and has the only decent SR in the whole series... every where else he has struggled to get on with the scoring rates...kohli on the other hand is pretty good in rotating the strike and therefore will be more successful in the SC than what rahane can be..that was my argument with vamos before you barged in giving a stupid comment about justice and injustice first match rahane 15(41) , kohli also got 37 of 67 not quick by any means yes he failed in mumbai kolkata his 42 was valueable and was slow cos india lost 2 quick wickets in between.. kohli out for duck and plz no need to call any one' comment stupid if u dont agree with my comment i have no problem ..and about kohli scoring quickly now.. at start of career he wasnt this good.. rahane can improve its not like he cant score quickly more over i was keeping in mind that he would be opening with sehwag so really imho he is perfect for opening role in odis (tendulkar rarely plays odis now) apart from that stupid comment it was good comment u provided stats to back up wht ur saying plz in future no need to be harsh
vamos_rafa Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Thats because India will play most of its games in INDIA where the conditions don't test the batsmen... problem is as we saw in the England series rahane was pretty much stuck for too long not being able to rotate the strike... his strike rate took a good bashing... unless he sorts that problem out we can't afford to play him in good batting conditions against tougher opposition... it was only because england were so poor in that series with bat that we won all the games... otherwise even we had not batted so well in that series apart from one-odd game... With Utthapa there is always the chance of getting a good start and with him strike rate will never be a problem... plus utthappa aint a cow-lasher.... even he is decent with technique.. his problem had been his attitude which off-late he has improved as resembled by some high scores in domestic cricket What are you talking about? He did pretty well for an opener in the ODI series in England. He looked pretty comfprtable facing the quick bowlers.
Old guy Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 ^ thats wht im saying actually in england in some matches he got us off flying starts and people were impressed how he and patel played like pair!
expoking Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 exactly' date=' not sure about mukund in ODIs as i havent seen him play list-A games or ODIs but he is good for tests... murali vijay though is crap.... everyone else are in line to be second only to sachin in Indian cricketing history... rahane is the next badrinath :giggle:[/quote'] Your a fool!
The Outsider Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 It's such a shame that he is being sidelined so that people can accomplish mahashataks at the expense of the Indian cricket team.
deathmonger Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 :hmmm: Very good innings today. No slogging. Will he get RD spot? or will it be Rohit/Pujara?
ravishingravi Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 It's such a shame that he is being sidelined so that people can accomplish mahashataks at the expense of the Indian cricket team. Well he did choke on his 100 . Some might say he is not selfish / hungry enough to be in Indian team.
vvvslaxman Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Very good innings today. No slogging. Will he get RD spot? or will it be Rohit/Pujara? Not sure how an IPL performance against trundlers like Harmeet singh, PK can guarantee replacement of Rahul Dravid. He will get his chance eventually thanks to pathetic performances of Rohit and indifferent form of Laxman.

He had similar performances in England against Anderson and co.
Number Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Not for tests. But many people have doubted his ability in ODIs, that he can't accelerate.

vvvslaxman Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Have you even looked at his FC stats? What more does he need to do? He will eventually find his place.. once Laxman vacates his spot. But this thread was bumped after an IPL performance.
veer Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 wish* we had this much competition for bowling spots...
vvvslaxman Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 which we had this much competition for bowling spots... sure there is competition for who can be more crappy
deathmonger Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 He will eventually find his place.. once Laxman vacates his spot. But this thread was bumped after an IPL performance. Who will take Dravid's spot? Kohli has taken Ganguly's. He may make a debut this year as he is a top order bat.
SLICKR392 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Let Dhoni, get over with fantasizing Jadeja and then we will talk about Rahane getting a chance in the Playing XI.
MCcricket Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Rahane played a good innings, I would love to see him play against, 140 to 150 bowlers, that is where I think he looks out of place, Tiwary has done this twice, I am loosing faith in his ability also at international level.
yoda Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 It's such a shame that he is being sidelined so that people can accomplish mahashataks at the expense of the Indian cricket team. Exactly my thoughts when I was watching him bat today. Our Maharathis keep playing for 15-20 years opening up a batting slot every 10 years. LOL! Hey, many people love watching the same guy(s) play straight drives and upper cuts for 15-20 years, who can blame the players for prolonging their careers or the selectors for persisting with them.
