SOUTHAMPTON: Barely six months after winning the World Cup, skipper MS Dhoni looked helpless with his pace attack in the second one-dayer at the Rose Bowl stadium on Tuesday night. Probably for the first time in the series he admitted that his bowlers are struggling in English conditions due to lack of pace. "The outfield was wet and our pacers were not able to move the ball and since they don't have pace they really struggled in these conditions. They also lacked the variation needed to succeed. Our bowlers need to step up from here," a visibly hapless Dhoni said in the post-match press conference. "I credit our batsmen who helped put up a good (187) score. But the opposition got off to a good start. We gave away too many runs in the first five overs and they reached a score of 100 in first 10. They didn't have to take any risk in the second half of their innings," he added. "Vinay Kumar has been bowling well in the death and so RP Singh was not considered for the match. Munaf Patel has been quite effective with the change of pace and that is why he comes to bowl first change. But today, nothing worked. We also had problems with the fifth bowling option. I am sure once Ravindra Jadeja joins the squad he will be of great help," he said. According to Dhoni, India played a fifth bowler in a match last time Jadeja played for India. "With only two part-timers, it's difficult to rotate the bowlers. At this stage, we don't have much option. We have to make the best use of the resources," he said. When asked if this was the toughest tour of his career so far, Dhoni smiled. "It's one of the tours where injuries have been a big concern. Losing eight players in this series is a huge blow and all of them are regulars. The packed schedule doesn't help." The captain assured that there is nothing much to worry about Ajinkya Rahane's muscle strain. Rahane has been the lone bright spot among the replacements. "He is more than 90 per cent fit and ready to play the Oval match. There was a bit of inflammation on his leg." http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournaments/india-in-england/top-stories/Our-bowlers-need-to-step-up-says-Dhoni/articleshow/9903561.cms

:yay: Vinay Kumar for next 100 matches.

I hope dhoni listens to dada

Munaf and Vinay were ordinary and it's time for the selectors to look beyond them, especially Munaf. His attitude on the field has also been questionable. He is a good guy but his reaction to the fielders every time a single was taken was not right. To do that, he has to be right up there. To point fingers, his batting, bowling and fielding will have to be close to the top level, which is not the case. I wish Varun Aaron gets a go in the next game. He has some pace, and to be honest, it can't be worse than this. It was very cold in Southampton and I wondered how cricket can start after so much of rain. But the ground condition was top class for cricket and the groundsmen must be given credit for preparing such a beautiful surface.

Vinay kumar bowled well??? In which match? If this continues, India won't find a fast bowler till msd is captain. He is showing confidence in vinay kumar rather than giving Varun the opportunity. Fast bowlers need a captain who motivates them to attack and be a wicket taker even if they go for runs. Varun needs an extended run in the team not Vinay. I hope Dhoni plays Varun in the rest of the matches.

Oh, so Queen Jaddu and Donald Kumar's place confirmed in the XI? Dr.M$D will play certified useless players like Koooooomar in the XI but wont play someone like Aaron. Wow. Talk about being a stubborn a s s. Guess Aaron wont get any chance against ENG and probably wont be selected for the ENG ODI series in India too.

Ganguly saw Zaheer as a left arm fast bowler and he turned him into what he is today....Ganguly appreciates Varun as well and i bet if dhoni picks up varun and plays him regularly he will trun Varun into a match winner too..

holding garner roberts marshall are no match for them :two_thumbs_up:
neither should play...neither jadu, he does not have the strength to hit a powerful stroke and his skillset is doubtful as he is neither a GOOD Batsmen nor a good bowler and u cant term his an allrounder. MUNAF- HIs Attitude Sucks, His skillset-???, HIs Pace- 120K average as he has stock ball at 121K and slow balls at 116K..see the variation...121 K - 126K ---Average ball. 115k to 118IK---slow ball,...see the variation 116K to 125K..BIG Variation ha ha ha ha ha. 129k to 133K ---fastish ball and one ball at 137K. if a guy can bowl 1 ball at 137K , he can also bowl 50 balls out of 60 balls ( 10 overs) at 137K and use the 116K ball as a variation ..if he does that he will get 3 wickets most of the time and he will be respected by his coalegues and his opponents, ooh. Vinay- has good attitude but has limited talent and Hence will find it tuf in international cricekt.
