Well Pollack is one bowler who was certainly only medium fast and a great.
Shaun P was quicker in the initial years. (Never express, but reasonably quicker than 'medium'). He slowed down later.

Pollock was quick when he started. I watched him in county cricket as well and tailenders were scared of getting into line when he bowled and he also knocked top order players on the head. From that to bowling off spin in SL. :headshake:

I would like to see Aaron in for Ishant in the 3rd test. But for the ODIs i guess Umesh should be rested as he is not suitable for that format in the SC as he bowls too short and it can deter his confidence if he goes for some runs in the ODIs... however Aaron should play the whole ODI series and i would also like to see Nehra back for the ODIs as he had done nothing wrong to loose his place from the ODIs... just unlucky..

I'm really confused what the idea of 'initial pace' has to do with anything. Surely success at medium pace is success at medium pace. I know the term 'experience' is thrown around but what exactly does that have to do with how you perform. If you are accurate and bowl to a plan, you will do fine.

It is not those bowlers who later lost pace were unsuccessful when they had pace. They just lost it as they played and that was a gradual process like in case of Mcgrath, Vaas, and Pollock but even if they lost pace, they had developed consistency and their experience helped them doing this. Because bowling is not just about pace, medium pace, swing, seam, bounce, it is also about patience which comes with experience. Young bowlers can be to excited and do over experimentation and try too many things too early that is because of inexperience. They want to take wickets on every ball but this is not possible and err in line and length. They need to stay patient and stay in the corridor, which new young bowlers do not do often.

Wonder how Aaron would be feeling. He was part of the team that toured England but did not play a single game. Even in India' date=' Yadav was played before him, first in tests and then in ODIs[/quote']Salil Ankola redux! The poor guy became the tourist guide for Indian teams after a while coz all he did was go with the team and not play any games

Ankola sure had talent, someone who mattered did not like him.

yep, i agree, Aaron should play in final test match. I am just wondering if he is in scheme of things for australia. It will be blunder of a decision if he is not selected for aus tests.

Good news- Cummins does not look very pacy - is more of a 136 to 144K bowler where as our 2 guys crank it up to 148K... Mitchell johnson is better than Cummins...lot of talk for cummins which does not seem true

Johnson looks even worse than earlier because of his medium fast bowling with shorter run up.
