saneindian Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Ravi Shastri has already started talking about the landmark being achieved at Cuttack or Vizag. IMO he shouldn't. No need for him to play the ODIs now just to get that ton of tons before the Aus series. The younger players need to play this series and get more experience of int'l cricket. Another thing is what if he doesn't score the 100 in the first two ODIs. Will he then go onto play the other 3 as well, which could mean delaying his early departure to Australia? I would be disappointed if Sachin goes on to play the ODIs. Let him be rested properly and achieve the landmark in Australiia, preferably during the boxing day test match. Your thoughts?
Stuge Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 its simple with this kind of midset it will be easeir for Aussies to get him out .its better he plays ODI and get over with this phobia as soon as possible .
Cricket Tragic Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 It's fine either way. The selectors might want him to play to get it over before Australia is possible (or he might as well). He looks in good touch so nothing to worry about.
ganeshran Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 ya he should play. Its been so long since we saw Sachin in an ODI
carnish Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 sachin should play in ODIs just because its played at home and we need the crowds in...
yoda Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Whether he plays or not shouldn't be tied to the 100x100.
Jersey #10 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 he should play it just to get it done with so that he can focus on the next 100 100s
kubrickian Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 He should play in the ODIs and get the 100th 100 done and dusted. Otherwise, the Aussie media will have a field day putting more pressure on Sachin and that will have an impact on his batting and also on the team, just like in England.
asterix Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Sachin, Dhoni etc. should be rested..Don't want any injury etc. before the Aussies series.. 100 100 can wait. If Sachin can't get over it then it's his problem....
vamos_rafa Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 He may get another chance for it in the 2nd innings :--D
Trichromatic Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 He should get 100th 100 in 2nd inning and play few ODIs.
Mariyam Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 All this 100th 100 business is making me  now. If selectors feel that India can win against WI without Sachin then he should be rested. If Sachin requests them to include him in the side, then they should pick him.
akshayxyz Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 not really' date='[b']want his 100 ton to be a test ton That is the whole problem with this 100th 100 business. it would be just 52nd test hundred, which is not so fancy number - so media added 48 and have been eating our brains every since. On the topic, if it does not affect his fitness for aussie tour - then go ahead and play, may be we will get to see another 200 :)
Andrew Peter Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 No . Rather should pack his bags as early as possible to Australia and get the required practice instead of playing in such a meaningless series against a depleted Windies Squad.
JeffThommo_fan Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Leave it to Sachin itself. He is a better judge. In either, it'd be good for us. WI will surely give fight to us in OD matches.
Number Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Why we are so desperate to get it. After his 99th hundred he played 2 important knocks in WC. Has decent contribution in this series with a great knock at Kotla. England happened because team collectively failed there not just because of Sachin. If he wants then he should play. If he think it's better to prepare for next tout then rest him.
