What does Ishant need to do to take more wickets?

He may end up being a workhorse type of bowler who creates pressure on one end but doesn't have the strike capabilities expected of a spearhead. Which is ok.

Siddle is a good example of a workhorse.not as gifted as other n as many variations but constantly at the batsmen n building pressure.Ishant isnt that.he bowls too much outside off.

Pitch itself has to provide assistance for him to be effective. On a decent batting surface he is simply not good enough to extract life. He just relies on angles nothing more. He has to generate movement off the seam or in the air. He neither has a good bouncer nor a good yorker. So limited variations. Relies largely on the response from surface.

Probably Zak himself was bit out of sort initially so he was only concentrating on his own game but now he's back in form & confident.So he'll be more involved for sure.

He needs to stop bowling short balls down the leg side to the freaking tailenders especially when you can't pitch the ball up

There is no use being a nearly man when you only have 4 bowlers. He has to take wickets, that is what he is in the team for. You don't carry on picking forwards in football if they can't score goals, same applies to bowlers in cricket. Only so long you can persist with a passenger in a 4 man attack.

Obviously, a more consistent line and length is a given, but the biggest reason he doesn't pick wickets is b/c he just bowls too damn straight. You are not picking wickets if you can't move the ball.

A few balls he bowled were unplayable, he needs to bowl that length where the batsmen is not sure if he has to come forward or stay back, with his natural ball coming in, if he targets that area more and attacks the stumps, aim to hit the top of off stumps.
