He used to show a lot of grit and determination earlier in his career even though his glove work was always questionable. He has not taken his batting to the next level and seem to be stuck in the 20s and 30s. Link to comment

saneindian Posted December 12, 2011 Share Posted December 12, 2011 Cant blame the selectors.He cameback to the ODI team after nearly 7 years in the series vs NZ last year (when MSD was rested and DK was struggling to put bat to ball), scored 2 match winning 50s. Opened in SA and did reasonably, went to WI, opened and had a decent series. Then went to England, had a great start in the ODIs missing a 100. Since then he has completely gone off boil with no 50s. In between, he played a few Ranji maches and scored 100 and 143 before the WI series. Like DK his problem has been not converting the 20s and 30s into big scores. When he was batting well, should ideally have scored a couple of 100s which would have helped in leaner times. Obviously not to be. After his recent failures, will most likely lose his spot now. maniac Posted December 13, 2011 Share Posted December 13, 2011 Parthiv Patel is probably one of the luckiest Indian cricketers in recent times....How would one justify him getting chances after chances in a team as a batsman and that too in ODI's where we have one of the strongest bench strengths... As far as keeping goes when Karthick was our back-up keeper in the last few years and Saha was groomed to be a test keepr,this guy still sneaks in to play in a WK role...truly amazing....maybe our WK resources are pretty bad Link to comment

To his defense, he played some decent knocks every now and then but he is not consistent enough as a keeper or a batsman to be in the Indian side. Link to comment
