People coming straight off the bench are performing against our champion cricketers. which star bowlers. They are all new bowlers, except MJ who was already under scanner. They are the bowlers who will lead their attack in future likes of Pattinson and Siddle with Cummins.

Our out of form declining batsmen are making them look better than they really are. 2003 fast bowling was nothing, only had Gillespie. Lee was coming back from injury. Brad Williams and Andy Bichel were not that good and pitches then were flattest you will ever see anywhere. They had good attack in 2006 with Lee in full form but all pitches were mostly flat, even Perth. Our batsmen do good on flat tracks mostly, not seaming tracks.

We can/will bounce back...but dont use SA as a yardstick for Bouncebackabilty

Bring in Rahane, Rohit Sharma or Mukund in the place of Dravid, Laxman or Gambhir ? Are these "yengsters" going to set the world on fire ? Give me a break. These are typical, emotional knee jerk reactions after every loss.

Hats off to the selectors for selecting this bunch and showing faith in them... +1 on paper without a doubt . unfortunately soome of them are not in great form . & as rtk pointed out , the current oz bowling is just top notch ..far better than the one we faced in 2003 & 2011 .

It's time we shed the baggage of statistics and focussed on reality. Australia have 3 really quick bowlers, all capable of bowling a fullish length and moving the ball off the seam, which is always going to be tricky for our batsmen. South Africa had a 125 kph trundler called Tsotsobe, who couldn't buy a wicket if his life depended on it. No such respite here. Barring a couple of our batsmen, I can guarantee that the rest will repeatedly struggle against this attack. I think its time we left reputations on the sidelines and started respecting cricketers for their actual performances on the field.
MCcricket Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I am waiting for Sreekant and Co to go out, we need selectors , capt with a strong vision, taking aggressive options, in couple of years we will loose fab 4, Jimmy seems to be a good addition , hopefully he takes over the reins.Selectors, Coach, Capt , should have a clear plan , also identify the potential and phase out players so we can have worthy replacement , which logically is impossible .

The basic issue for me is can we really see Sachin or Dravid or Laxman in the team in 3 years time when we next play our tour outside sub continent? The truth is no. So its important to blood youngsters in the youngsters in the next 2 years when we play only in the sub continent.So that they gain confidence in test cricket and feel assured of their place in the team when we next go to Nzl or SA at the end of 2013.It would be daft to wait till Sachin or Dravid decides to retires maybe for next 2 years and then suddenly blood youngster in tough away series imo. Regardless of what happens in the Aussie series (even if we win) all three of them should retire sooner.At best England series at the end of year should be the last series for our Big 3.After that they should be pushed out even if they are in reasonable form and refuse to retire like we did in ODI team.Otherwise it will only be our team that will suffer if the transition isnt handled at the appropriate time. People complain about Kohli failing.But when he is playing in a struggling side and with tail with pressure for his place in an unfamiliar position its no wonder he is struggling.Our seniors arent exactly making it easy for youngsters to debut.It would serve as best if Kohli (or Rohit for that matter if Kohli is dropped) is promoted to no.5 ahead of Laxman during the current Aus series. Everyone said the same about the ODI team how youngsters are not good enough and dropping Dravid and Ganguly is a big mistake.But it only turned out the best thing happened for India.We should have the same ruthless approach in selection in tests too.Unless we assure the youngsters of their place and give them a chance at their natural position we wont see the best of them. How exactly do we expect Rohit Sharma's and Pujara's of this world to succeed at no.6 batting with the tail often when all their career they played as top order batsmen playing with a totally different mindset? So this should the last year for Sachin Laxman and Dravid in my view and should be asked to retire atmost after England series so that we can blood all the youngsters in easy series in home conditions rather than waiting for then to retire.

I mean I am talking long term: 1. Figure out a decent way to retire the veterans. 2. Figuring out a way how the new ones can adapt to overseas pitches having swing, seam and bounce. (may be more A-tours, make youngsters play in foreign leagues, etc) 3. Make pacy pitches instead of roads in domestic matches. 4. Put less hype on ODIs, tontee-tontee, etc. Put emphasis on fitness. 5. Have serious ex-players in selection committees, leadership position, effective coaches. My hunch: Nothing will happen. BCCI is content with IPL and making money. India is a corrupt, ineffective country. A piece of shyte nation with corruption and favoritism. Nothing will change, nothing. Phaack de India!!!!

Ultimate_Game Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 What's the point. We have lost the series anyways. Even if we make changes our best chance to beat Aus in Aus is gone. Was really hoping I would see the milestone achieved this time but I didn't count on such gutless display.
