Parthiv is one of the best players of the square bat shots i.e. Hooks and cuts. We have seen on numerous occasions players trying to play with a straight bat and edging to slip when a horizontal bat shot would have been much wiser. He should have been in the tests squad as reserve opener/keeper in my opinion.

Selecting 3 very gentle medium pacers in Australia looks like a bad idea . I know it is ODIs where pace is not that important and sometimes counterproductive if a bowler is inaccurate ( when played in the subcontinent ). But the ODIs are a bit different in Australia where pace bowling is often very important and some ODI matches are low scoring and played like semi-test matches. I am happy that the quick but inaccurate Ishant Sharma has been left out of ODIs but somebody like a Manpreet Gony or an Ashok Dinda would have been ideal instead of Vinay Kumar. PK and Pathan are good choices.
