Whats so confusing about Ponka is saying? Do you remember who was the second man to land on moon? Do you remember who other than Steve Waugh helped australia reach the 1999 semi final? Nobody remembers number second..nobody. Even today everyboy is praising virat today as you can see forummers like pravinkuteria, nangypanti and vvvslaxman etc posted in joy for Virat but forgot Raina altogether. Its human nature!
ok but how did ponka got in this ? is the the 2nd guy ? clear it up first :wall: who the hell is this ponka guy that ur referring to in all of ur comments

Rahul Sharma, Umesh, Irfan , Virat, to me are the positives of this tour.We need more bite in our attack also better handling by the captain.Zak looks like he is running out of time,in ODI'S Yuvraj, Rahul Sharma, Irfan,VK , Munaf, and also test out new bowlers.Jadeja has under performed big time, maybe Y Pathan, Nechim Ahmed, Suyal, Dinda, Pandey, Kartik, Saha , SHOULD BE TRIED IN ASIA CUP

But if Raina is not going to be in team for next WC' date=' why we should play him in any ODI. Let's prepare team with somebody keeping WC 2015 in mind. Don't you know it is just 3 years away?[/quote'] I would try someone else but not at Asia Cup where Pakis are going to be around as well. By the way I would have Raina in the team for 2015 WC as well. I am all for Yusuf and Uthappa to be in the squad and one of them getting into the team but in place of Jaddu & Pappu, not Raina. I actually rate Raina pretty high especially after the crucial knocks he played in WC in knock-outs which somehow doesn't get as much plaudits as they should.

All contributed well. The opening stand, the middle overs partnership of Gambhir and Kohli were very important too, and the finish I thought was exceptional. We couldn't have asked for a better chase :hatsoff: On topic, yes Well played all, well played Raina :nice:

Robin Smith (yes, yet another ex-Saffer) scored 167* in an ODI v Oz in England (Birmingham) in 1993. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65009.html Don't know if it is the highest, but would be pretty close.
Checked using statsguru. It's Coventry's 194 from Zim. From test playing nation it is Hayden's 181*. Robin Smith is at third. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?batting_fielding_first=1;class=2;filter=advanced;innings_number=1;orderby=batted_score;result=2;template=results;type=batting;view=innings

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about how great Raina is or 'not'.... The fact is that he has a pathetic technique and is a pure basher/slogger. He can't play the bouncer if his life was on the line.... I totally agree that the only reason he is a fixture in India's LOI eleven is his closeness with Dhoni The SL bowlers were thrown off their game plan by Kohli's blitz and hence forgot to bowl short at Raina... so he got lucky and used his strength to smash length balls. He is not a very reliable batter but as long as he helps India win matches I don't care about his batting position or technique..... Raina at best is a supporting role player with bat and ball aka bits and pieces cricketer
Yes agree. 100 against SA fast bowlers in T20 WC in West Indies was just a fluke and SA pacers were so kind that they did not bowl a single bouncer to him.

No doubt he's a big game player in shorter formats. India wouldn't have won the WC without him and I doubt Jaddu or any other younger batsman could have playe those knocks. In sub-continent he should be in the team without any doubt. In fact I don't think he has failed in subcontinent in shorter formats. But yeah he shouldn't be there in the team on tours to SA or Aus on current form.
But he was the second highest run getter in England ODI series in England.

Thanks guys. :nice: Forgot about Haydos and Coventry (for some reason didn't realise his then record score was in a losing cause).

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: O man, :haha: he was referring to himself. Don't know why he talks like that, may be some psychological identity problem :secret:
