The Outsider Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 ............but he is ten years younger, then I understand that he is going to get the opportunity." ------Mark Boucher, March 4, 2012.
Deleted_User_1 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Now why don't the Indian players....I mean maharathis think like that?
yoda Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Now why don't the Indian players....I mean maharathis think like that? cause the fans have made them larger than life and they think if they quit the world will come crumbling down.
King Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 The problem is Boucher didn't retire either, he waited for selectors to drop him. Same goes for the Indian seniors, they think they have it in them to fight back like in the past. It is the selectors job to drop them if they can. You can't blame the players for thinking they can make a come back especially the way the likes of Rahul and Ponting have gone around turning their fortunes in test cricket. Mind you in the past players used to play till 40 or even more, maybe the current players reckon they can go on for another year or two.

Same like Indian Maharathies, not one has ever been dropped from tests.
saneindian Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 but Boucher is not dropped for Tests ever. Same like Indian Maharathies' date=' not one has ever been dropped from tests.[/quote'] Boucher was dropped for the tour of India in 2004. Tsolekile was the preferred keeper. Wasn't picked for a couple of tests on the 2004 tour to Eng either.
Lord Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 do we really hv the same standard of cricketers as Sachin,Rahul,Laxman?
rkt.india Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Boucher was dropped for the tour of India in 2004. Tsolekile was the preferred keeper. Wasn't picked for a couple of tests on the 2004 tour to Eng either. that was 8 years ago. I am talking about now. He has not been dropped from test due to his performance yet. He made this decision himself.
rkt.india Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 do we really hv the same standard of cricketers as Sachin' date='Rahul,Laxman?[/quote'] but you dont have any difficulties finding cricketers who can play as good as SRT, Dravbid, VVS are playing off late. Do you? We wont lose worse we lost in England in Aus in test. SRT and VVS do not have a single century on these tours. These two have 3-4 50s combined in 32 innings of these 8 tests. I think we can find those young batsmen easily who can as score as much as these 3 have scored in those last 8 tests abroad and even if we lose we won't mind because we will already not have much expectations from those young boys. If you are to lose better to lose with young batsmen and give them exposure so that they can get better. We are not solving any purpose with seniors right now.
asterix Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 do we really hv the same standard of cricketers as Sachin' date='Rahul,Laxman?[/quote'] No..Will never be..Hence they should continue to play as long as possible and in all formats..

We do not have an away tour in 2 years and I do not see them sustaining touring abroad again to SA in December 2013 that is the reason I want them to take a call so that we can blend new guys. We may not win in 2013 with both seniors or juniors but at least juniors will have some experience which may serve them later. I am not saying they are solely to be blamed for those debacles but their failures were huge factors . When we see Kohli, a test rookie was our highest run getter, we must know what it the way forward. And, it is not just about their failures, it is about the way they failed. They have slowed down, they look uninterested while fielding, their fitness is not up to the mark, their reflexes have slowed down. They were troubled facing fast bowlers over 140K. Dravid's dismissal were just embarrassing. Laxman in most games had no clue what he is doing on the pitch having a bat in his hand. Only SRT looked a bit better in first 2 Aus tests, though even he looked out of depth in England. Same thing is about Viru who already had no technidue to start with and with his age, his hand-eye coordination is also dying. Result top edges, catches at gully, leading edges on full tosses, etc, and he is deriving new ways of getting out every match. Regarding whether 8 tests is a criteria or not, 8 tests is not a big criteria when you are young and is a rookie like it was for Kohli, but when you have 10-15000 runs, over 100 tests and age is 37-39 years, it become an ending point for a cricketer. These 3 have played total 24 innings in Aus and it cannot just be a coincident they could score 4 50s in those 24 innings.

Sachin=GOD Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Manay samajh nathi parhe 6e Its just the usual - people taking potshots at the Indian seniors.
Lurker Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Easy for Boucher to say, does he have 99 centuries? :secret:
prinzo Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Mark Boucher will retire after the England series this year
prinzo Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 First wicketkeeper to take 500 catches in Test cricket
prinzo Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 some info: The record of most dismissals by a wicket keeper in test match career is held firmly by Mark Boucher of South Africa who's the only gloveman to cross 500 victims barrier and frankly, none of current players seem to challenging him in near future, specially after Adam Gilchrist retired, breaking his fellow countryman Ian Healy's record. here's the list.. Most dismissals by a wicket keeper in test career 521 dismissals = Mark Boucher (SA) = 499 catches + 22 stumpings. 416 dismissals = Adam Gilchrist (Aus) = 379 catches + 37 stumpings. 395 dismissals = Ian Healy (Australia) = 366 catches + 29 stumpings. 355 dismissals = Rodney Marsh (Aus) = 343 catches + 12 stumpings. 270 dismissals = Jeffery Dujon (WI) = 265 catches + 5 stumpings. 269 dismissals = Allan Knott (Eng) = 250 catches + 19 stumpings. 241 dismissals = Alec Stewart (Eng) = 227 catches + 14 stumpings. 228 dismissals = Wasim Bari (Pakistan) = 201 catches + 27 stumpings. 219 dismissals = Ridley Jacobs (WI) = 207 catches + 12 stumpings. 219 dismissals = Godfrey Evans (Eng) = 173 catches + 46 stumpings. 206 dismissals = Kamran Akmal (Pak) = 184 catches + 22 stumpings. 201 dismissals = Adam Parore (NZ) = 194 catches + 7 stumpings. 200 dismissals = MS Dhoni (India) = 174 catches + 26 stumpings. 198 dismissals = Syed Kirmani (Ind) = 160 catches + 38 stumpings. In one day cricket, Adam Gilchrist has been the best wicket keeper to play ever, and his records show not just in runs charts but also what he did behind the wicket, raising the bar so high that no one may be able to tough him although Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, MS Dhoni of India and Brendon McCullum of New Zealand still have a chance. here's the list.. Most dismissals by a wicket keeper in one day career 472 dismissals = Adam Gilchrist (Aus) = 417 catches + 55 stumpings. 424 dismissals = Mark Boucher (SA) = 402 catches + 22 stumpings. 353 dismissals = Kumar Sangakkara (SL) = 275 catches + 78 stumpings. 287 dismissals = Moin Khan (Pakistan) = 214 catches + 73 stumpings. 248 dismissals = MS Dhoni (India) = 187 catches + 61 stumpings. 233 dismissals = Ian Healy (Australia) = 194 catches + 39 stumpings. 226 dismissals = Brendon McCullum (NZ) = 212 catches + 14 stumpings. 220 dismissals = Rashid Latif (Pak) = 182 catches + 38 stumpings. 206 dismissals = Romesh Kaluwitharana (SL) = 131 catches + 75 stumpings. 204 dismissals = Jeffery Dujon (WI) = 183 catches + 21 stumpings. 189 dismissals = Ridley Jacobs (WI) = 189 catches + 29 stumpings.
