MCcricket Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Least likely Badrinath, then Rahane looked very inadequate in playing pace and we are not talking genuine pace.Most likely Kohli, somehow if Dhoni was not in the picture in test's my wild card would be Saha, good technique , very compact, proper batsmen, Pujara impressive, Rohit most talented but has to get out of t20 and ODI mode, he can learn from Kohli though.Well Dravid is in his 40 th year, India's best test batsmen as far as I am concerned, Dravid's retirement probably I see Tendulkar retiring within this year, best case scenario Gambhir and Sehwag at one down, Murali Vijay, Pujara, Rohit, Saha should be given a go for extended time.Murali Vijay well , no doubt about his talent, technique , he looked at home playing good bowling, he needs to tighten his game and then Yuvraj can come in for VVS when he hangs his boots.

There is ever-impressive Virat Kohli who can get a promotion from n0.6 to n0.3,my personal choice would be Cheteshwar Pujara.Tailunted Rohit Sharma is also a contender for atleast one middle-order spot as VVS is also likely to retire within 1 year or so.Only Sachin will continue playing tests.So no.3,5 & 6 will be up for grabs pretty soon.We need to have atleast 5 young batsmen in the squad & they should be Virat,Pujara,Rahane,Rohit & Mandeep Singh as far as the potential is concerned.Now we have to wait & watch how all these guys perform in the near future.

That nickname shoud be immortalised for Dravid. Find some other nickname for the next generation. Let there be only ONE "wall"

They both have potential to be really really good batters at the top level. However, let us plz get over trying to get 'like for like' replacement for perhaps the strongest middle-order in modern day cricket.... I mean it is impossible to say with any certainty that there will ever be a middle-order like the one with dravid, sachin, laxman, and ganguly. Sadly, none of them left or will leave at their peak :(

In any case, he was at least better than some of the current batsmen.
