fineleg Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 the value of pace' date=' [b']Ishant, Umesh, Aaron, Shukla four bowlers we have now who can touch 150, let them bowl aggressively and make them part of a bigger plan to conquer at home and away. . Ishant, Ishant? for Tests or even odis??? - useless - even after 50 Tests, we have not realized this??? 50 Tests are an eternity for knowing abt I.Sharma Aaron - very injury prone Shukla - hope for the best, hope he does not go the way of "once upon a time sensation like RP Singh, or Sreesanth or Munaf-142-Patel" Only mainstream hope is Umesh Yadav so far.
Vilander Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 One thing this game has shown and we have seen countless times in the past and Dravid rightfully called before the start of IPL we will bowl aggressive and fast and blow them away and that is what happened, only selectors and Dhoni is never able to understand the value of pace, Ishant, Umesh, Aaron, Shukla four bowlers we have now who can touch 150, let them bowl aggressively and make them part of a bigger plan to conquer at home and away. With Shami, Sreesanth, Awana, Pankaj who can touch 145, still we keep on seeing useless trundlers, PK, VK, uMADKAT, aRAVINd, rp. hitting top speed in t20 is one thing, bowling fast in a longer spell is something else. Out of these guys only Yadav and Ishant have shown ability to bowl fast 138+ in tests. Shukla might or might not do it in long spells , sreesanth bowls more in 130-135 range in tests. Aaron is a loss does not seem like he will ever play tests..
fineleg Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 135-136 in Tests is very good if they have good skills like Zaheer Khan. That speed + skill will get you wickets in Intl cricket. Better than 140 but useless like Ishant Sharma ofcourse we all want (142 + zk-skill) combo, but until then ZK like is the best we can hope for.
Vilander Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I was wrong then. Although seems like an error, it looked like a flighted delivery, Christian used his feet, came down the track to pitch of the ball. :giggle: The worst death bowler against intl batsmen. have to agree on that, but i thought he improved on that, until yesterday's game against white, proved that he is good only against list a level batsmen not against international ones..
panther Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Shami Ahamed is now Mohd. Shami ...:cantstop: wonder what this is going to do to his mojo.. panther your thoughts Test bowler

Better than 140 but useless like Ishant Sharma 135 with skills of erstwhile zak is a luxury for india..disappointed in Shami or is it that he is a test bowler who can not change his game for t20..

Lets not even evaluate bowlers in T20 or even batsmen. This is a parody and not cricket. These bowlers need to prove in FC cricket or County cricket.
Vilander Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 142 + and zak skill level or more is Steyn. Only one team has that.
MCcricket Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Shami is unlike Sreesanth in many ways first of all he is very fit, very hardworking and good temperament, very good bowler for longer version and can easily bowl in 140's.
Number Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I hope because of this sh!t and giggle tamasha, Shami doesn't lose his place in ODIs or A team.
Vilander Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I hope because of this sh!t and giggle tamasha' date=' Shami doesn't lose his place in ODIs or A team.[/quote'] yes really worried..i was confused too for a period..really dangerous.
Number Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 shukla is worse then aaron IMO no control at all. Aaron has the best control, much better than Yadav .
NareshK Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Ishant, Ishant? for Tests or even odis??? - useless - even after 50 Tests, we have not realized this??? 50 Tests are an eternity for knowing abt I.Sharma We play mostly on dust bowls and spin friendly tracks in tests. They are not even flat wickets with decent pace and bounce. Those pitches are so slow that even if a bowler bowls 140+, batsmen can easily play him. Even if there is reverse swing, batsmen can play it easily as there is enough time for the batsmen to adjust. Look what happened to Aussie bowlers in recent India series. They looked even worse than Ishant and they typically pick lots of wickets in Australia. Cant be too harsh on our seamers.
pindxb Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Great for Shukla, ICFers have always maintained that he was one with pace. Now bring on Sid Kaul, Warrier & Pandey!

Usually a slow pitch 140k at release becomes 115 k after pitching, in fast pitches even 130 k will come on at 120k..
Old guy Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 yup, although ishant looked crap in Aus this time. Usually a slow pitch 140k at release becomes 115 k after pitching, in fast pitches even 130 k will come on at 120k.. Difference is not this much..pace is nothing in India ball does not bounces at all and there is not much swing Without these bowlers can't pick wickets and as we saw vs england as Anderson got swing he was good enough to pick wickets even in india
rkt.india Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Tait has left everyone behind in just one match and he has not stretched enough yet. This is not his quickest. Hope, RR keep the same pitch.
vishalvirsingh Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 I wud feel that Shukla shud be trained as he is genuinely Quick even bowled a few balls around 145K mark One such ball clean bowled manvinder as he got late to hit it.....that pace helps, I feel if shukla improves his CONTROL over his bowling he can bcom international level Shammi is mostly 132 to 138 only a few touchng 140 and he has little swing as his seam is Good but real control over seam is with bhuvnesh Bhuvi is better than sami on seam and swing and on pace sami has lil edge but not far better than So bhuvi is better......shukla if he gets control he can be better than bhuvi and shammi not today as he does not have that Control but he has HiGh pace potential. Ball that got kallis was also very high upto shoulder level and I am sure it was a 140K bouncer on the offstump as kallis edged it with no control to give an easy catch- that turned the match
