Gave a good account. Whether he's a trundler or a tearaway pacer, only time will tell after getting more chances to play..
express bowling Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Shukla definitely looked quicker than 130 k av speed. Batsmen of the quality of Mahela and Sehwag were often hurried. He was putting in effort and hitting the deck hard. Perhaps he gets zip off the pitch as opposed to high release speed. If he is another victim of action change after injury then that is sad.

MCcricket Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Zahid and other bowlers with similar actions did have more injuries then most bowlers, Flintoff had a front on similar action, he has a good run up approach. He will slowly regain pace, hopefully he gets some good advice ,his deliveries do seem to kick of length similar to Flintoff who bowled faster, maybe he should look at Flintoff also he is very young so there is a year to gain pace and stabilize his new action, then build on from there.

There certain bowling actions which gives a sense of being more accurate like James Pattinson is one, Steve Finn, Ryan Harris, straight uncomplicated bowling actions. They run straight and delivery with straight positions which help their accuracy. His action is such that the tries to bring the ball back in at most times and when it does not go right he will be going down leg.

I know you are trying to analyse bowling actions for their perfection and then noting any imperfection as a definite sign of future failure in an area (in this case, accuracy), but you, nor anyone else, has the intellect to do that. By your logic, Colin Croft and Makhaya Ntini would never have been able to maintain accuracy, but both maintained good accuracy and hence had good records.

This guy had better junior level performances than Aaron at U19 level and both used to bowl in a pair, even for Jharkhand Shukla was first choice opening bowler when ever they played together, maybe since his return from injury, he has not gained his full confidence yet or had some changes in action, but I am just trying to find issues. In such actions, like Shukla and Ishant, little issues with wrist position and grip can lead to loss of control even at low pace.
