Chandrababu Naidu shares stage with Modi
NEW DELHI: Amid reports that TDP is cosying up to NDA, party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday shared the stage with BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a programme here and heaped praise on the erstwhile Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He joined Modi and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani at a programme organised here for college students. Addressing the gathering, Naidu held the Congress-led UPA government responsible for the slowdown in the economy and the falling rupee. "Congress should be defeated in the 2014 election or we will have to suffer for some more time. 2014 is a very good time to defeat Congress," he said.

party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday shared the stage with BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a programme in New Delhi and showered praises on him. “Till 2004, Andhra Pradesh was the byword for development. But now, Gujarat has that distinction,†Naidu said praising Modi for his policies and administrative acumen. He joined Modi and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani at the programme organised for college students. Addressing the gathering, Naidu held the Congress-led UPA government responsible for the slowdown in the economy and the falling rupee. Naidu recalled the achievements of the NDA government and said it had made progress in the field of highways, mobile connectivity and growth in technology. Though Modi shared the dais with Naidu and exchanged pleasantries, he did not mention the TDP chief in his speech.

NEW DELHI: Congress has directed its top guns to take on Narendra Modi, realizing that its policy to ignore the voluble leader was not working. The party brass is learnt to have asked its senior leaders to counter the Gujarat CM on all fronts, as it seethes under the stinging barbs unleashed by Modi. There is a feeling that the failure to match Modi's acerbic attacks was hurting the party, contrary to the estimates that playing down his presence would help check his momentum. Congress has been fielding only Gujarat leaders against Modi in a bid to box him as a regional leader. The decision to treat Modi as the first among BJP leaders means that only the top trio of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi will keep away from referring to him directly. It could intensify the Modi-Congress duel in the run-up to year-end assembly polls. Congress is learnt to have reassessed the strategy after BJP declared Modi as its PM candidate in September. Being the saffron mascot for 2014 marks Modi as the top rival presence while his growing reach among the middle classes and the youth can pose a serious threat if not countered. There is a feeling that Congress is dealing with a different kettle of fish in Modi who is driven by energy and ambition. His unconventional methods of attacking the top leadership in the rival camp and his insistence on venturing into "no-go" areas of political sniping make him unpredictable. The high-voltage attack unleashed by Modi on the party brass last week may have finally ended Congress's dilemma. He had rattled the ruling camp by mocking the PM as being helpless and accusing Rahul Gandhi of insulting Singh with his "ordinance is nonsense" remark. Worse, he derisively referred to Rahul as "shehzada", or princeling. Insiders believe Congress is ceding space to the Gujarat CM by ignoring him. For the man who has proved the Congress's nemesis in Gujarat thrice, the party has failed to crack the code. While the central leadership's strong attacks only bolstered Modi's position post-Godhra, Congress in vain tried with letting local leaders take care of the Hindutva strongman in the last election. Congress, however, is optimistic that the national stage is different because of the sheer heterogeneity of people and regions involved. The gains to be had from a minority polarization are a plus that do not exist in Gujarat.
Congress goes for the full monty against Modi :two_thumbs_up:

Mallika, who sang Happy Birthday to Narendra Modi, claims that he’s the perfect bachelor, and would do anything for him! "I am hopelessly romantic girl. I like him (Narendra Modi). I am not interested in Rahul Gandhi," Mallika claims.

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday extended his support for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and said that he wanted Modi to change BJP. He added that being elected thrice as the Chief Minister shows that he has been a good administrator. "If a politician wins a state thrice doesn't that prove that he is good. I want Modi to make BJP secular," he said.

KOLKATA: Accusing the West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress of having an "understanding" with the BJP, the CPM on Saturday questioned party supremo Mamata Banerjee's silence on Narendra Modi. Communist Party of India-Marxist leader and former state housing minister Gautam Deb asked why Banerjee has preferred not to talk about the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate. "When everybody is talking about Modi, why is she (Banerjee) silent? Modi is either good or bad, if he comes to power, he will either build the country or ruin it, but why is she not saying anything about Modi," Deb told media persons here
Deb also flayed the Trinamool for its failure to give a befitting reply to Congress leader and Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh who Tuesday ruled out any alliance with its former ally and also accused it of "flirting with the BJP". "I am amused at the Trinamool leaders' banal reply to Ramesh's jibes. We could not find any aggression in the replies by the Trinamool whose leaders are known for spitting venom. Perhaps the Trinamool has realized it could not have come to power in Bengal without allying with the Congress," said Deb.
