Election Results 2014: Narendra Modi's Mother Seen Praying, He is to Visit Her Soon Gandhinagar: Narendra Modi is set to become India's next prime minister - early results show his BJP and its allies heading towards more than 300 seats in the Lok Sabha. A majority of 272 is needed to form the government. His mother, Hiraben, was seen praying this afternoon. Mr Modi, 63, currently serving a fourth consecutive term as chief minister of Gujarat, is watching the election results on television at his home in Gandhinagar. Sources say he will leave soon to seek her blessings.
