ravishingravi Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 to be downgraded by S & P. Yeaaaa, India shining. This will cause some major bloodbath on the currency and equity markets http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/Sensex-rupee-fall-after-SP-warns-India-of-junk-rating/articleshow/14030032.cms
Crookbond Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 "This (S&P report) is not based on a fresh rating action... Between April 2012 and now there are no significant events to indicate that the economy's vulnerability to shocks has increased, though the growth numbers for the fourth quarter 2011-12 have come below the expectations," he said. http://www.hindustantimes.com/business-news/WorldEconomy/Pranab-rejects-S-amp-P-s-India-downgrade-threat/Article1-869621.aspx
ravishingravi Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 More than anything, it is the retrospective tax on investors which is a very usual vindictive thing for Govt. to do and it has done that time and again which destroyed the investor confidence. I dont blame them.
Clarke Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 but but ratings don't mean much, world is in recession due to EU crisis etc etc.
ganeshran Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I started buying gold in the last few months. Push comes to shove, its better to have money in a commodity which has intrinsic value and is less prone to global shocks. That being said, I am confident we will pull through, provided the government takes some steps to push through stalled reforms. If the election sentiment takes over, it is going to be a stormy affair

jairamesh Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 :yay: About time, India's economy has been literally rudderless, it's only the Reserve Bank's actions helping it going but there only so much the hydroplanes can do. The central government's lack of complete vision borders on amateur level.
ganeshran Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Yeah gold is generally a safe bet. When is the next review of the investment status?
Clarke Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 It would be interesting to see if MMS can crack the whip and which particular issues would he do so. His intervention did seem to help the new nuclear power plant in TN.

I dont blame them. actually retrospective taxation is not unusual and has been done many times in many other countries as well. Even the BJP said they didn't have a problem with it. It would be interesting to see if MMS can crack the whip and which particular issues would he do so. His intervention did seem to help the new nuclear power plant in TN. He won't do anything at least for the next 12-15 months and then after that we will suddenly see a lot of new initiative because the Lok Sabha elections would be very near.
