Rohit doesn't have the same thing that Raina, Yuvi didn't have. Solid defense. There is nobody that can be more careless than Viru. But he has rock solid defense. HE rarely plays down the wrong line unless he is beaten for movement. Rohit plays down the wrong line even while defending even on a flat pitch.. i can't believe how he can do it over and over. He has done it time and again without any run scoring pressure. Atleast Dravid did that in his very last series. Rohit is doing that very early in his career.

surely the next selection committee will dump his ass. the guy has done absolutely nothing in his ODI career apart from bashing some crappy bowling attacks like WI, pakistan, zimbangwe, etc. his batting average just keeps sinking lower and lower. enough of flogging this dead horse.

I really don't see any reason to pursue with him further till a fair run has been given to Rahane and Pujara and maybe my initial feeling about his abilities was in fact wrong because Rohit still does thrive in mediocrity. I am sure if you pitch him against West Indies or in the IPL he will be back to scoring runs. Maybe I can't point the finger as to what is missing, but unabated failures against top opposition over 5 years and close to 100 ODIs calls for some tough decisions to be taken.

But but Srilanka is a mediocre bowling attack too.

Issue is he has freak injuries rather than a chronic injury. Hopefully it will be ok.
